Hairifying!

Lame title {I know} but I couldn't think of anything better.  Give me a break, it's 6:15 in the morning.

So while we were on vaca I got in some MUCH needed {or so I thought} magazine reading time.  While pursuing the latest Self magazine I came across a section about dying your hair yourself vs. professionally.  Hmm...interesting...mama needs her roots done BAD.  So it says if you are blonde you really only need to go to the salon twice a year and then do your roots at home with a touch up kit!  REALLY???  AWESOME!  So {after a couple drinks}{mistake #1} we venture out to buy formula {for the gazillionth time} and I pick up a box of this jazz {mistake #2}...
Directions seemed easy enough, I can do this!!!  And if it works $12 will be so much more manageable than $100!

And it all went HORRIBLY wrong from here.  Needless to say I look like a porn star.  It's yellow/brassy/ugly and I only have myself to blame

And now I know you're thinking, "it's not THAT bad Shannon, you are overreacting!!" So to prove I'm not, here's what I had to go to work with yesterday...
I know I'm smiling but I'm crying on the inside.

Well at least J-Money can pretend he has a new wife till I get it fixed.

    Ok. Maybe I'm blind. But I seriously don't think it looks bad....maybe it's not showing as well in the pictures?! Good for you for trying though...I will only go dark with box color...blonde in a box scared me!

    Maybe the pictures aren't coming through like in real life, but I actually think it looks good! And I love the cute cut you have!

    Honestly.... its not bad... it could have turned out really bad but its not....maybe it looks different in person but it looks fine on these pics.

    I agree with the others...unless it looks way different in person, I think it looks great in the pics, especially after you fixed it up.

    I think you look good---but obvi by your comments you're feeling fatt'ish..(errm.your face is NOT fat)--but, wondering if you've started doing anything? didn't you get a treadmill for xmas??

    The whole post partum weight thing is a topic of interest for me...OBVI. Since I'm there. Just now finally having some luck losing weight! just curious ;)

    okay, i first read this post on my iphone and thought your hair looked fab- but then thought- maybe it's my phone since you were so disappointed? and now im on my computer.. and I STILL THINK IT LOOKS GREAT! what are you talking about, woman?! I love it?!

    Honestly Shan, I LIKE it! I don't know if the color isn't coming across in the picture but it is bright and I think it looks great! I really think it looks good!!

    Honestly, I think it looks great. Bright and sunny! If it's too brassy in person try that purple shampoo stuff that removes brassiness. =)

    I have to agree with the other commenters, maybe the pictures make it look better (rarely the case) but I think it looks great. Maybe just lighter than you are used to and it will take some time to get used to it?!

    I am in agreement as well, maybe the camera is doing good justice here, but it looks good! You're brave for trying blonde, I will only do dark with box as well. Hopefully it grows on you and you like it also!

    I like it! But that might also because it's very similar to my hair color. I can see if you like to have a little darker at the roots/omber look (Guiliana used that on twitter to explain the fade of color from root to tip), then it's a change, but I think it's a good change. If you're looking to tone down the brassy, get a blonde shampoo...it helps!

    I use that brand/kind all the time. I'm not a splurge-on-my-hair kinda' gal, so it works...but seriously, it doesn't look bad at all! I don't see what you see. ;)

    you crack me up! I think it looks fine - along with all 23 other commenters.. but i totally know what its like to get a new color on your hair and slightly freak.. it will tone down after a while but in the meantime i'm sure J is not complaining about having a blonde bombshell as his wifey!

    I don't think it looks bad at all.. But, if you think it has yellow/brassy tones in it, you should get some purple shampoo.. You can buy it at any beauty supply store and it's about $12 give or take.. I use it once a week on my hair and I lalalove it :)

    I honestly don't think it looks bad at all. Maybe it's the photo quality but seriously it doesn't look like it was box color at all.
