A Month of Thanks

Day one: I am thankful for family. As cliche as it sounds my family is the most important thing in my life.  I'm not just referring to my little family under this roof either.  My parents are amazing and as an only child I am very close with them.  Growing up I had more of the "strict" parents and at times I hated them for that but as an adult I appreciate that.  My mom is my best friend and I talk to her every day.  My dad will do anything for me and I love him for that.  I also lucked out in the in-laws department, mine take the cake.  Since the day I met Jimmy they welcomed me and loved me. My mother-in-law is an angel on earth and my father-in-law and I have this awesome, funny banter that always makes me laugh.  And I've got three brothers now too which is really cool.

Day two:  Today I am thankful for sleep!  All parents know how tricky DST is and last night was interesting.  Kendall {who normally goes to bed later} fell asleep around 5:30.  I thought that was going to lead to a 4 am wake up call but, with only one interruption, she slept till 7am!  HOLLER!  James went to bed later than usual, around 8pm, and slept till 10:15!!!!! Not bad, not bad DST.

Day three:  I am thankful for makeup.  I know it sounds shallow but sometimes, not often, I like to feel pretty.  I like to do hair and makeup and put on real clothes and it makes me feel human again.  Like I said, not very often.

Day four:  I am thankful for my husband.  I probably should have put this as day one but after him being gone for 6 days I truly realized how much I appreciate him.  He is my sanity, my rock, my voice of reason.  Even though most days we only see him for a few hours after work those are the best hours of my day.  He's a great dad and a hard worker.  I did good marrying him.

Day five:  I am thankful for our home.  We've talked about selling it, building, moving somewhere else numerous times and last year we almost acted on it.  The more I thought about being somewhere else or about someone else being in our home it made me sad.  There are things I'd like to do here {get new carpet!!!} but all of that stuff is cosmetic.  Our home is not too small, not too big, has a nice, large yard, Jimmy has a man cave, and we have enough bathrooms for everyone. It's everything we need.

Day six:  I am thankful for Amazon Prime.  We just got it last January and I wonder why we never got it sooner?  Two day shipping rocks my socks.  I don't know what we'd do without it. #firstworldproblems.

Day seven:  I am thankful for Kendall's amazing teacher.  We really hit the kindergarten jackpot with this one.  She's sweet, kind, but authoritative at the same time.  Kendall has learned so much this year already and it's amazing to see.  I didn't think I'd like anyone as much as I liked her preschool teachers but I am smitten with Mrs. Shaffer already!

Day eight:  I am thankful I am able to workout.  Might sound silly but I know there are people with ailments who wish they could run or lift weights so when I don't feel like exercising I think about that and it pushes me to tie my shoes and push play.  I never want to take my body for granted and taking care of it is so important to me.

Day nine:  I am thankful for my tribe.  This includes my family, my close friends, my church people, Beachbody team, my blog friends.  I am surrounded by amazing, positive, uplifting people on a daily basis.  I never really think too much about it but when I do, wow, I am blown away!

Day ten:  I am thankful for our church.  I never attended church as a kid.  When Jimmy and I first moved I knew I wanted to find a church to call ours.  We tried out a couple different ones before we found it but I am so glad we did.  It's super casual, everyone feels welcome, the messages are understandable and sometimes funny.  Not only do I look forward to going every week but my kids do too and that makes me happy!

Day eleven:  I am thankful for my online community.  I have made so many great friends through this outlet and I am grateful for each one.  It's so crazy that I can be as close as I am to people from all the way across the country, and in some cases the world.  Very cool.

Day twelve: I'm thankful for rainy days.  I don't know why but I just love a cool, rainy day sometimes.  Makes me want to eat chili, snuggle by the fire and stay warm and cozy.  I crave a good rainy day every once in a while and today is one so YAY!

Day thirteen:  I am thankful for amazing doctors.  I have had ear issues since I was a little kid.  I see an ENT twice a year whether I am having problems or not and a hearing test annually.  I will be having surgery Dec. 22 to close a hole in my ear drum and because my doctors are amazing I don't feel even slightly nervous about it. I know that I am in good hands and that feels really good.

Day fourteen:  I am thankful for my friends.  Today we had a house full of friends and little kids.  My house was messy, it was loud, we ate and drank too much, we played board games.  It was amazing.  I really have the best friends.

Day fifteen:  I am thankful for Instagram.  Silly, I know, but I have truly found a lot of support, advice, encouragement and helpful hints through this social media outlet.  Plus I really love seeing a glimpse into other people's lives ;-).

Day sixteen: I am thankful for naps.  Not for me, for the children.  It's VERY rare that both of them take simultaneous naps but when they do? Glory, glory, HALLELUJAH!

Day seventeen:  I am thankful that Kendall's surgery went better than expected.  I was nervous about her being put under anesthesia and had heard horror stories of kids having a hard time waking up.  She was PERFECT and did absolutely amazing!  No crying, no vomiting.  She was just a little quiet for an hour or so but then she was 100% back to her normal self!

Day eighteen:  I am thankful for the book The Resolution for Women.  I started to read it a couple years ago but I don't think I was "ready" for it.  I just started it again last week and WOW!  OK!  I am in the right place for it this time because it is speaking to me LOUD and clear.

Day nineteen:  I am thankful for my Beachbody business.  I don't make tons of money, not what some do, but every penny I do make helps.  It helps pay the electric bill some months and has paid our entire mortgage others.  It helps to take some of the burden off my husband and allows us to live a little more comfortably.

Day twenty:  I am thankful for my health.  Sure I'm having surgery next month but generally speaking I am a healthy person.  I don't usually get sick beyond the regular cold every year and heck, I don't even have a family doctor!

Day twenty one:  I am thankful for or wood-burning stove.  It's usually a nuisance to me because it's messy, it's loud and it's annoying to load wood every couple of hours.  BUT it saves us hundreds, probably thousands of dollars every year on propane.

Day twenty two:  I am thankful for remote start on my truck.  It's too big to park in the garage and it's COLD here, now.  Remote start makes me hate going out to the car a little less.

Day twenty three:  I am thankful for silly movies like Blaze and the Monster Machines.  Kendall had been looking forward to that movie for a week now.  When it came on tonight we all gathered up on the couch and watched it as a family.  I have no idea what it was about, really, but it was fun to do that together.

Day twenty four:  I am thankful for yoga.  I haven't really been feeling any of my workouts lately so I have been doing yoga and it's just what I need right now.  I don't want to sweat and feel like I'm going to die.  I just want to stretch and feel good and that's what yoga does for me.

Day twenty five:  I am thankful for little shoes {and toys, and clothes, and blankets} strewn across my house. It reminds me that we have happy, playful, healthy, little kids running around.  My dreams have all come true.

Day twenty six: I am thankful for time spent with family on Thanksgiving.  My family is fun.  We took a walk to the park after dinner and later played Cards Against Humanity.  What's not to love about this Thanksgiving?

Day twenty seven:  I am thankful for a handy husband.  We are in total house project mode over here and he built a sliding barn door to replace our awful, ugly, broken bifold doors in the kitchen.  I love the look of barn doors but I love it even more because he made it with his own hands.  Up next, farmhouse table for the kitchen!

Day twenty eight:  I am thankful for the Elf on the Shelf. I know most parents think he's annoying and while I have already forgotten to move him {day two} my kids love him. He brings magic to our house and their excitement is contagious.

Day twenty nine:  I am thankful for our zoo.  We went to the zoo lights tonight and it was amazing, as always.  Our zoo is so cool, has so much to offer and we always have a blast when we go.

Day thirty:  I am thankful for quiet mornings.  I like to wake up before the kids, drink coffee, do a little yoga all before the kids wake up.  It doesn't always happen but man, when it does?  Glorious.

Thankful Thursday

As I sit here, freezing cold, hating winter, dreading that I have to take two sick babies out in negative temperatures, I am overcome by a feeling of gratitude.

Here me out, this is not an "I realized winter ain't so bad" post.  Never.

I am thankful for healthy babies.

When I was pregnant with Kendall I remember reading through some blogs, women who were also pregnant, and some of them had not such great pregnancies/births.  I couldn't bring myself to read some posts because the reality was I had no idea what kind of pregnancy I would have and what the outcome of labor and delivery would be.  I couldn't bear the thought of something awful happening and no one should ever have to experience such tragedy.

Fast forward, two healthy pregnancies, births and babies later.

I am pretty sure I can count on one hand the number of times I've taken Kendall in for a sick visit.  She' s got a great immune system and even preschool germs don't affect her.  When we go in for her, now yearly, well checks her pediatrician is always so surprised that there are no blue slips in her file {indicating a sick visit}.

James hasn't been as fortunate, however.  He's had more ear infections in 18 months than she's had in 4 years.  He got RSV/bronchialitis right at Christmas time. We've probably had just as many sick visits as we've had well checks with him.

Today they are both sick.  They both have this nasty, nasty cough.  Kendall is fever-ish.  Last night, around 10:30, James woke up coughing so hard he couldn't catch his breath, completely freaked Jimmy and I out.  His eyes were watering, his face was so red, he kept looking at me like, "Mom, I feel awful".  After sitting in the steamy bathroom, hot water on full blast, we got the coughing to stop and he was able to fall back asleep with no more issues through the night.

But I don't think either of us felt at ease sending him back to bed so we turned the motion detector back on on the Angelcare monitor, something we turned off months ago.  He didn't wake up again and seemed to sleep pretty good.  But, needless to say, we are going to the pediatrician today.

Today I was feeling bad for myself. I have to drag both of them out in this winter wonderland {our high today is 3 degrees}.  Why are they both sick?  Why is it so cold?  Where is spring?!  Wah wah wah.

But then I realized how minute my "problem" is in comparison to kids who have terminal illnesses, spend their days in the hospital, and parents who wish their biggest "problem" was a sick visit to the pediatrician.

So, reality check, I'll stop my complaining, bundle the kids up, get them to the doctor, pick up a Starbucks along the way, and get them better.  It's really not that bad.

I'm thankful for their health, for an amazing doctors office where I love all the pediatricians, for a warm car with remote start so I don't even have to brave the elements much, for warm clothes, a warm house, and hot chocolate/coffee to warm us when we come home.

That is what I'm thankful for today.

November- A Time For Giving Thanks

So I've got a confession, ya'll.

I've been in a bit of a slump.  I always feel like I get some sort of SAD when the cooler temps arrive and I hate that. Last year it hit me on the night of Jimmy's 28th birthday party.  This time of year gets really stressful for me for many reasons and instead of making excuses I'm going to change my attitude this year.

This year, starting now, instead of whining and complaining, each day I'm going to sit down and find something I'm thankful for.  For a whole month.

Today I am thankful for these crazy people.
Sure, they drive me crazy, test my patience, and test me each and every day but I love them and I wouldn't have it any other way. At the end of the day they make me smile.  I know I am loved and so are they.  I am thankful for them today and every day.

Thankful Thursday

Whew.  The past few days have been fun!filled! to say the least.  We ate lots of bad food {cotton candy, ice cream, cookies, chips & dip, you name it}, saw fireworks, lots of "oohs & ahhs", danced, our butts off, and enjoyed being with family.  It was fun but exhausting all at the same time.  I think we all really enjoyed the past 48 hours to the fullest.  Yes, we did, indeed.
{bubbles galore, "I wish I loved anything as much as my kid loves bubbles"}
So today, we rest.  It's a dark, rainy day, perfect for staying in and catching up.  For that, I am thankful.  Some days you need to just stay in PJs all day, take long naps {her, not me}, and finally get caught up on some house things.
We've been surrounded by family for the past few days {and all last weekend while we were without power} and all this family time has reminded me how lucky {i.e. thankful} I am, we are, to have such a close relationship.  My mother-in-law and I were just talking about this at the pool yesterday, how fortunate we are that all of our loved ones are close {emotionally and locality}.
My family is pretty small, there are only 11 of us in my local, immediate family, so our family gatherings are pretty low key and quiet.  We usually spend our time eating too much, watching a good movie, just being together, nothing {really} crazy.
My in-laws are quite the opposite.  Big, loud, fun, always something going on type of family.  It's a welcome change coming from my background. I love being in the hub-bub and the fact that Kendall has so many cousins to play with over there.  It's really special and always a great time {and great food}.
Either way, I am thankful for both families.  Although both are very different, they are both so amazing in their own ways. I am so happy that Kendall {and any future Dew babies} will be surrounded by so much love.
Hope you all had a fun and family filled holiday!

Cha-Cha-Changes

Notice anything different around here?  It's not a new layout, it's not new sidebar pictures of the family, and no new sponsors...keep looking...yep, there it is, there are 2 new pages up there.  Get Fit and 365 Gifts are two new pages for your viewing pleasure.
Get Fit is pretty self explanatory.  This is my weight loss journey.  Most of you know it but for new readers I thought it'd be nice to have that all in one spot.  Any questions can be posted to that page and I'll gladly answer.  I just thought this would be easier for readers thank scrolling back through months of posts.  I am very proud of where I came from and happy to share my story with you all.  It's a work in progress so check back often.  I'll post about my 5K training in there once it is a done deal too.  Very exciting.
365 Gifts is something I haven't talked about.  It's sort of like a New Years resolution I suppose. I started reading the book One Thousand Gifts, where Ann Voskamp vows to find a gift in every day life, big or small. Her story is so profound and really sends a great message.  There are plenty of things in life that get us down, that make us question God, and that we take for granted.  Ann dares the reader to "live fully right where you are" and I can't think of a more fitting task, especially this time of year.  So for the next year I will keep track of at least one gift I find in each day and challenge you to do the same.
So those are a couple new things going on around these parts.  Hope you all had a fabulous New Years.  Here's to 2012!

Thankful Thursday

Remember back in the day when I used to do these on a weekly basis?  I even had a button and all!  Well those days were a lot more grateful and we need to get back to those roots around here.  So I'm welcoming thankful Thursday with open arms.
I am thankful for...
  • Friends and Family.  I mean what's life without them?  Not one worth living.  I have such an amazing support system around me at all times.  I know if I ever need a shoulder to cry on or a partner in {fun} crime I have about a dozen people I can count on.  I am a lucky girl, what can I say.
  • Blogging.  Not only have I met great friends through blogging, I've learned a lot.  I've learned a lot about myself, things I like & things I don't.  I've learned a lot about being a mommy from my fellow mommy bloggers, seriously don't know how people parented before The Internet.  I've also gotten tons of hook ups from blogging, which is always a plus in  my book.*
  • Wine time.  I haven't talked much about my love for wine lately but don't let that fool you, box wine is still on tap at Casa de Dew.  My personal favorite?  Franzia House Favorites Crisp White.  Don't knock it till you try it.
  • Country living.  There are times I don't appreciate our country life, like when I want Chipotle REAL bad, but when we wake up to the most gorgeous sunrises it brings me back to why we chose to live in the sticks.
  • Part time work.  I am only working 4 days a week now, I have Fridays off.  I love this extra day off.  I thought I'd use that day to do chores and grocery shop but instead me and KP have been doing mommy daugher days.  Normally it consists of a little Chick-fil-A and some playground time but this week we will be having a playdate with another mommy blogger/friend!  Cannot wait.
  • Pinterest.  As hard a tried to resist joining I had to.  I kept seeing all these great ideas of things I could do with KP and just had to know more.  I'm so happy I did because not only have I gotten good crafty vibes but it has turned into my own virtual cookbook.  More on this over at A Brighter Yellow.**
What are you thankful for?

*more to come on the loot and even some chances for you to win some things for yo'self.
**BIG thanks to Kodi for letting me invade her space today.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for:
  • My sweet baby girl sleeping next to me. Call me a bad mom, tell me I'm spoiling her but after her morning bottle I nap snuggle with her on the couch. I can't help it.
  • Fall TV. Is your DVR as full as mine? I flippin' love it. Normally my 10-11 am TV slot is full of Kathie Lee and Hoda getting tanked on the latest cocktail but this week it's been full of The Biggest Loser and Two and a Half Men. I love it, wait did I already say that?
  • Warmer temps. OK I can't believe I really just typed that and I'm not REALLY thankful for the warm weather BUT I am thankful that Kendall got to wear a few more of her summer outfits. She got so many clothes and I was afraid that a few of the super cute ones were going to be put away with the tags still on them BUT Indian Summer creeps in and throws me a few 90 degree days and VIOLA she wears them all!
  • Coffee. I used to pour a whole cup only to drink 1/4 or 1/2 if I was lucky but these days it's DOWN THE HATCH with it! I even got some fancy new cream that makes it even more deeee-vine!
  • A clean house. There's just something about neatness that makes me so happy. Is that sick? I just love having everything in it's place and knowing where something is when Mr. Husband says, "babe, where's my...".
What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for:
  • Miss KP. She is really starting to look like a baby and less like a newborn these days. She's more alert and she can follow our voices with her eyes now. I love watching her.
  • Wine. HALLELUJAH I can FINALLY enjoy some alcoholic beverages! I LOVE and missed my wine and am welcoming it back into my life with open arms. LOVE bottle-feeding.
  • Mr. Husband. He is amazing. I mean when I thought that I couldn't love him anymore I find a new pocket of love for him in my heart.
  • Cooler Temps. I L.O.V.E. fall and am SO GLAD the weather is cooling down. This means windows open and lots of snuggles on the couch, what's not to love?
  • Great friends. Just when I think the gifts for Miss KP have stopped coming another arrives. I cannot express my gratitude to everyone for everything they have done for us, from dinners to groceries to blankets and onesies I appreciate it ALL.
  • Aveda products. Have you tried their Air Control hairspray? Enough said.
  • Rainy days. We haven't had a rainy day in FOREVER and I am DYING for one! I just want to snuggle in and watch tons of movies that have my name written all over them. Don't ask me why but I NEED it to be rainy to enjoy this.
What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for:
  • Miss KP. I had a doctor appointment today and Kendall has until Monday to make her grand entrance into this wonderful world or she will be forced out starting at 7 am. CANNOT WAIT to meet her, and still praying she'll come on her own.
  • "Away Messages". Earlier this week I HAD ENOUGH and turned off my phone and changed my voice mail to something along the lines of "Hi, you've reached Shannon. If you are checking to see if Kendall has arrived, she has not. We will notify you {A-Listers} when we are on our way and/or she is born. Until further notice consider her NOT here". Mr. Husband said it was "way harsh", I say it was "way necessary".
  • Fans. Sure we have air conditioning BUT in my pregnant days air conditioning is NOT enough. Mr. Husband came home to find me laying on the bed, in my underwear, spread eagle, under the ceiling fan. I felt fabulous.
  • Butterflies. We have TONS of butterflies out in the country and I LOVE seeing them. Sometimes they even play together, how cute?
  • Chipotle. I honestly could eat it EVERY day, had it twice this week already. I figure I better get it in while I can b/c when KP is born it's HARDCORE diet for this mama.
  • Swiffer Wet. The hardwood floors are IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean but the Swiffer Wet has made it MUCH easier to manage. The only thing better {that I can think of} would be shaving the dogs...
What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for:
  • Our beautiful home. I have never felt more comfortable in a house than I do this one. It's still hard to believe that it's FINALLY all ours.
  • Big Brother. Who else is watching? As entertaining as Brachel's showmance is, no season beats BB8 {the season with Dick & Danielle}. I love watching BBAD for 3 hours each day while I wait for Miss KP to arrive.
  • My amazing Mr. Husband. I know these past 9 months have been HARD on us both. Moving on top of pregnancy did not make it any easier. All I know is I don't think anyone else would put up with my bitchiness quite like Mr. Husband has. I think he should be put up for sainthood.
  • Snack food. I honestly do NOT want to eat real food right now. I had Ritz crackers with cream cheese for dinner last night, no joke. Pizza Rolls, gummy bears, oatmeal cream pies, ice cream, chips and salsa/dip...all part of my every day diet these days.
  • Thunderstorms. We had 2 in the past 24 hours and I really love sleeping when it rains. I know Casey Girl HATES it but it's soothing to me, and we needed the rain.
I have been SUCH a slacker on the thankful Thursdays but I am back to posting them weekly. I seriously feel so much better when I take the time to reflect on things {big and small} that make me happy in life. I hope you take time to do the same. What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursdays

I am in a foul mood this week today but I am thankful for my husband. He is amazing. I am crazy, irrational, hormonal, achy, bitchy, complain{y}, obnoxious, I could go on {really}. He puts up with all my cRaZy, all the time. He doesn't complain {usually} instead he just smiles and nods. I love him. I really can't wait till I'm back to my ole self and he can have his awesome wife back.

What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursdays

Today I am thankful for:
  • My tiny dancer KP. She's been a mover and a shaker this week and it's AWESOME! I can now SEE her moving in there! How cool is that!?
  • Our amazing Realtor. This house thing SUCKS and she's amazing. She's always super easy to get ahold of, easy to communicate with, and she's a fighter! I'm so glad we have her.
  • Laughter. Sometimes it IS the best cure.
  • Sleep. I'm sleeping much better these days {for now} and I am SO glad! I know the sleepless nights are in the near future so I'm happy with however much longer I have to sleep.
  • Free things. Today Starbucks is giving free coffee if you bring in your own reusable/travel mug! WOOT! WOOT!
  • Minute to Win It. Do you watch this show? OMG hilarious! The things people will do for money and it requires NO skill, NO smarts, and NO practice. I love it.
  • Meds. I am slowly realizing how CRUCIAL medications are to life. I have this GIANT cold sore on my lip {sexy, huh?} and I have a prescription that will dry it up in 2 days but I can't take it. They say ginger root will work...we'll see.
What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursdays

Today I am thankful for:
  • Miss KP's little kicks. They are becoming more and more frequent now and I love feeling them! I FREAK out if she goes for any length of time without kicking me!
  • Cherry Limeade. I mean it seriously doesn't get any better than that.
  • 16 & Pregnant. OBSESSED with this show! I mean besides all the DRAMA involved with each girl, it gives me hope that we will be AMAZING parents!
  • VS PINK. I have been obsessed with Victoria's Secret's PINK collection since it came out. Their boyshorts are to die for for the pregnant folks!
  • Fans. Oh boy I forgot how much I love sleeping with the windows open and a fan blowing. Heaven.
  • Sleep. I've been sleeping much better these days and I sure am thankful! I know it's just a matter of time before it gets bad again so I'm cherishing these days.
  • Warm weather. I LOVE wearing dresses and flip flops. I wish it were like this ALL YEAR LONG!
What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursdays

Today I am thankful for:

  • My #1 girl, Miss KP! She’s been a mover and a shaker this week and I’m loving every minute of it! I usually feel her the most in the morning, right when I get to work and at night when I wind down for the evening. Mr. Husband *thinks* he’s felt her a couple times, YAY!
  • Warm{er} weather! It’s been creeping near 70s this week and this weekend might even get near 80! This year will be the first Easter in a few years that it’s going to be warm so this girl’s wearing an Easter dress FINALLY!
  • Lunch meat sandwiches. I am obsessed with them this week, honest. I know there are all those cRaZy rumors that pregnant women aren’t supposed to eat lunch meat but I checked with my doctor and he said it’s huey! I swear I could have had 7 for dinner last night and been happy!
  • Our amazing wedding photographer. I just got an email that she wants to submit our pics to Columbus Bride magazine {my dream come true}! I cannot wait till the fall issue and I hope we are in it!
  • Our amazing family. Between my family buying Kendall’s bedroom set and Mr. Husband’s mom offering to babysit her when I go back to work, we could not be more blessed. I <3 our families.
  • Outlet shopping. You all already saw my score for the baby bedding, BUT I also got 3 candles and 3 hand soaps from Bath & Body Works for just $15!!! Mr. Husband guessed all 6 to be $50, what a deal!
  • Online registries. I admit I am obsessed with registry stalking! I always said I would NOT be one of those brides {when it came to the wedding} that would look at what people bought and let it be a surprise, but I couldn’t resist once I saw one thing go I couldn’t wait to see what else was headed our way. The baby registry is NO different!

What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursdays

Today I am thankful for:
  • Little Miss. I put headphones up to my belly yesterday and felt her dance! Don't worry, it was Amazing Grace she was listening to, not I Can Make Your Bed Rock.
  • Friends and family. Kendall is going to be surrounded by love! She's already got so many clothes and toys from everyone and I can't believe how lucky we are.
  • WARM WEATHER! Can you believe it's been in the 50s and 60s all week! That's right! I think it's safe to say spring has sprung!
  • OPI nail polish. Do they have the BEST names or what? I have Strawberry Margarita on my toes and Pinking of You on my nails.
  • Spaghetti and meatballs. Is this ever NOT a good dinner? I mean I could eat it every day!
What are you thankful for?

February 25, 2010

Thankful Thursdays

Today I am thankful for:
  • Miss Kendall Paige. I felt her move last night for the first time! It was like a quick little air bubble, and no it wasn't gas. It was her and ever since I've been poking her trying to get her to do it again!
  • My amazing grandparents. Not only did they send me birthday gifts but they sent Miss KP some too! She's gonna be one stylin' baby!
  • Birthday week. Even though this year will be a little different than all others, {I will be my own DD} I can't wait to go out and celebrate with all my besties this weekend!
  • Grandma's cookin'. For birthdays in our family you get to chose what you want for dinner and grandma cooks it, dessert included! Previous years have included brinner, finger foods, and Stromboli. On the menu this year... FRIED CHICKEN, mashed potatoes, corn, rolls and dirt for dessert! CANNOTWAIT!
  • The Baby Cove. I just recently started blogging over there too and it's so much fun! I am so glad they asked me to be a part of such a neat site! If you haven't checked it out yet swim on over and dive in!
What are you thankful for?

February 18, 2010

Thankful Thursdays

Today I am thankful for:

· Baby Kendall. I’m ready to start feeling her move now, I can’t wait!!!

· Quick dinners. Hamburger Helper {don’t judge} saves my life on nights I just don’t feel like it. Oh and spaghetti too!

· Good realtors. We switched and I’m SO glad we did, our new one is GREAT and on the ball. We would have been DOOMED with the last one. Note to future homebuyers, get a good realtor- it makes ALL the difference.

· Pregnant friends. I have at least four friends pregnant right now and 3 of them are having their first too and I just think it’s SO exciting. I love having people to go through this with!

· Gymboree sale. I just bought Kendall some of the CUTEST things. I can’t wait till they get here!

· OUR NEW HOME! I haven’t posted this one in the House Hunters section b/c I didn’t want to jinx it but we just got word that our offer was ACCEPTED!! {more on this to come}

· Awesome family. I just am so blessed to have such a wonderful family not just MY family but Jimmy’s family too. They are great and I can never say enough good things!

Thankful Thursdays

Today I am thankful for:
  • Kendall Paige. I'm so glad I don't have to post butterbean anymore! I am so relieved that everything was FINE at our u/s on Monday. It's so exciting to know she's in there and growing.
  • Family. I had everyone I love with me at the u/s Monday, minus my dad b/c he had surgery, and I never felt so loved. It truly means the world to me to have them all witness this miracle with me.
  • Sleep. All week we've been going to bed PRETTY early and it feels GREAT! Make fun of us all you want, 9 {sometimes earlier} o'clock bedtimes are the BOMB!
  • OJ. My doctor has told me not to drink it because of all the added sugar, BUT I do and I did drink it before the u/s Monday and it definitely helped KP wiggle and show us the goods.
  • Uggs. Not as a fashion statement, I'm not that girl. I LOVE them as my winter boots. It is COLD here in OH right now and the 3 pair I own are total lifesavers. They keep my feet so comfy and warm, I have a hard time taking them off once I get to work.
  • Valentine's Day. I'm normally not a v-day kind of girl, or so I tried telling myself. This year I'm pretty excited to go to brunch and see Valentine's Day, yes we will be THAT couple. I just love the mood v-day brings out in people. What can I say, I love love!
  • Work. Sometimes I complain about work and wish that I was a school teacher so that I could have snow days, but I'm really thankful and lucky to be where I'm at. My work has gone through a lot of changes recently and I'm glad I've made it through all of them with my job in tact.

Thankful Thursdays

Today I am thankful for:
  • Baby Butterbean. Only 4 more days till the big reveal!
  • Blog friends. I'm still feeling the love after receiving Lauren's card.
  • Pregnancy symptoms. No one tells you how nerve-racking the first part of pregnancy is. I told myself after the first ultrasound I would feel better but now I just can't wait to see the baby again. Until I can feel him/her moving around in there it's hard to know there's a baby even in there. So the sore boobs, heart palpitations, leg cramps, and gas are my only indications that things are moving along just fine.
  • Audio books. I have downloaded 4 on my IPod in the past month and I love that it makes the time at work go by much faster AND I'm "reading" WAY more books this way.
  • Great in-laws. I swear I have the BEST around. Love them, wouldn't trade them for anything.
  • BIRTHDAY MONTH! You heard right, birthday MONTH! My birthday is the last day of this short month and I like to celebrate for all 28 days. Ok not really but still.
  • House-hunting. I'm sure my tune will change once we really get into this home buying stuff but for now I CAN'T wait to see 4 houses on Saturday! Wish us luck!
  • Silly mornings. Mr. Husband and I have the craziest mornings. We make up silly songs, play stupid games, and watch Roseanne. I love it.

Thankful Thursdays

A day late, I know, but in my defense my laptop needs to be thrown across the room hasn't been working the best. So better late than never. Today I am thankful for:
  • Baby Butterbean, always. Cannot wait to see him/her in just a little over a week.
  • Maternity pants. My regular ones have officially been retired until sometime after August.
  • Our neighbor. She is the one thing I will miss when we move. Sure she's loud and crazy but she shovels our front stoop and salts our sidewalks so that I don't slip. Thank you!
  • Flats. Heels are a pain, literally, so flats are this girls best friend lately.
  • My very first online friend, Julie. This house-buying process is new to me and I'm completely CLUELESS and she has given me a lot of helpful info. Thanks Jules!
  • Bare Minerals. Yes I know, shoot me, I'm supposed to be your drug store makeup guide girl, but I got a gift card to Sephora and I caved. I promise I'm still using drug store brand everything else.
  • Tim Horton's. I'm sure a lot of my blog readers don't have Tim Ho's nearby and for that I am truly sorry. They make the perfect cup of coffee, every time. I think Katie can vouch for me too.
  • THE WEEKEND! Hallelujah!
