Well yesterday we got two checks done! We FINALLY got our passports! OMG talk about weight off my shoulders!

My list of NO PLAYS consists of:
YMCA

Chicken Dance
White Wedding
No 50 Cent- not appropriate for a wedding
Come on Eileen
Pour Some Sugar on Me
Now, I ask you, what songs are on your DO NOT playlist? Also HELP me find an intro, mother/son, and last dance song! Also what are you MUST PLAY songs for the reception? I have tons of slow songs I want to play but I'm having a hard time coming up with more upbeat ones that will satisfy everyones taste.

My husband and his Mother danced to Simple Man by Leonard Skynard. And I've heard that played at a few other weddings for the same dance. good luck!! :-)
ReplyDeleteoh i need to do this! thanks for the reminder!!! ill try to think of some ideas for you - but one place to check out for GREAT tips is theknot.com they have a whole list of songs to use.
ReplyDeletegood luck!
At Last by Etta James. Classic!
ReplyDeleteWHAT!? No Pour some sugar on me???? LOL, one of my FAVS... but I agree with you on all the others! I did not want to be doing the "chicken dance" in my wedding dress! or the Hokey Pokey fo that matter!
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong. I love Pour Some Sugar On Me, I just don't know how appropriate it is for a wedding. I always said that would be my stripper song, LOL.
ReplyDeleteall of the songs on my "NO list" are ones that make me think of previous relationships from the past. Like for me, its the entire collection of Rascal Flatts. Not bad memories, but I'd rather hear music that reminds me of TL. :) I agree with you on all your lists though, not a fan of Chicken Dance and all that!
ReplyDeleteThe do not play list looks great. For the mother/son dance we did What a Wonderful World and it was really sweet. Our intro was Crazy in Love with Jay-Z and Beyonce and our last dance song was Save The Last Dance by Michael Buble.
ReplyDeleteSome of our other must play songs were Michael Jackson (PYT, Billie Jean), the Apache song and Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. I know this is random and we had others, but these are the first songs that came to mind!
Good luck!
For the mother/son song, we are thinking "My Wish" By Rascall Flatts.
ReplyDeletefor the intro, we used "beautiful day" U2.
ReplyDeleteMother/son: some elton John song
last dance was a Dave Matthews Song...I think..omg, I can't remember.
I remember.. It was steady as we go, DMB
ReplyDeleteAll of our friends have used "Don't Stop Believin" as their last song so we will too. I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI stumbled across your blog and couldn't move along without passing along a song suggestion. "dont stop believing" by Journey is a definite must play for me! I got married last October and when going over the song list with my dj, I told him he HAD to play this song and make sure I was in the room dancing when it was on : ) Also, our last dance was to "Johnny and June" by Heidi Newfield, don't know if you're a country fan but this is a great song. Good luck!
