My Future Mr told me that this wedding is going to happen, and be amazing, regardless. The important things are not the flowers, the centerpieces, the songs, the food, the important thing is the union between two people who fell in love. That was my mindset in the beginning, but the closer it was the more I was letting unimportant things take over. Thank God I have an amazing man by my side to keep me grounded and remind me that I'm getting out of control.
Since I let go of all the things I can't control I feel so much better and I can see the difference in my relationship. We are having fun together again. We are being silly and dancing and singing stupid songs. We are being us again, not just Bride and Groom. It feels great! Now I am approaching this wedding planning with a whole new perspective and if it gets done, great; if not, oh well.
So please girls, do not let wedding stuff consume your life! Trust me, been there done that, it's not worth it. Take time to talk about something other than your wedding with your groom. Have fun and be that fabulous couple you were before you were engaged. That's what it's all about.
Love you, Shanny Shan. <3

Good girl! I know it can seem so overwhelming, we all got like that at one point during the wedding planning process. Mine was over the guest list. I seriously had the worst fight with J over that. But at the end of the day, it really will come together and even if not everything goes according to plan, your guests will be none the wiser because only you know it was supposed to be one way when it turned out the other! xoxo
ReplyDeleteamen! I was the same way a few weeks ago... oh man, it can get so stressful if you think about all the details! But your man is right... it will all happen and be beautiful regardless! I am right there with you - 13 days for me... and VERY soon for you!!
ReplyDeleteThings can get stressful...I always recommend hiring a wedding planner. Even if it is only for the day of the wedding, it will be such a stress relief!
ReplyDeleteWhile I was reading your past blogs (a.k.a stalking j/k) I was reading back in the day you didnt have a last song for your wedding yet! Is that still the case? If so you might like Michelle Featherstone: We are Man and Wife
ReplyDeleteI am def. playing it at my next wedding (whenever that maybe).

I know how you feel... I'm still 14 months out from our big day, so I have plenty of time and I'm trying not to stress. Besides just being thrilled about spending the rest of my life with my man and becoming his wife, we just want everyone to have a great time on our day! Like you said, it's not the centerpieces, the flowers... it's having everyone you love there to celebrate your marriage and have a great time doing it!
ReplyDeleteI love this outlook on life in general!! It will happen and it will be great!
ReplyDeleteThat's right! Enjoy it! It's going to be your day soon!

What a great post. I feel like my engagement went sooooooooo fast and I didn't really take time to smell the roses. Over two years and a kid later, I still don't know where the time went!
