My Husband's Manly-er Than Yours

What can I say, I married a real man's man. Mr. Husband is an avid hunter and for about 2 months out of the year I wake up on Saturday's alone. The first year of this I was really jealous of hunting and resented it taking my man from me. I made Mr. Husband feel really guilty for doing something that he loved and was really good at, that in turn made me feel TERRIBLE. It's not like he was going out to a strip club, gambling away all our money, or doing drugs- he was out sitting in a tree for hours.
Fast forward to this year. I have realized that this is something he is EXTREMELY passionate about and I knew that before I married him, hell before we were even engaged. I cannot ask him to give up something he loves so much and chances are if he did stay home with me one Saturday we wouldn't really DO anything so what's it hurting. Plus it's only for a few weekends out of 52. Plus in a way it's nice b/c I get to spend some time with my girlfriends and my mom and get some things done with them. So it's not SO bad, but I really do miss my Saturday morning cuddle time.
This season has been a very SLOW. Mr. Husband has gone out every weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, since we got back from the h-moon. Each time he comes home frustrated and disappointed in himself. We have been praying all week that this weekend would be his weekend and it looks like all of our praying FINALLY paid off! This morning at 7:21 I got a text, "I just shot a HUGE buck!". YESSSS!!!! I never in a million trillion years thought I'd be so excited over hunting! But here I am, the proud wife of my manly man! Here he is with his pride and joy early this morning.

And what's even more manly is he doesn't use a gun or even a crossbow, nope my man does it straight up Robin Hood style with a bow and arrow. That's right. So now I have a HAPPY husband and plenty of meat for the winter months. Love my man!

  2. I used to feel the dread of hunting season too, and I sometimes feel it creeping up again around this time of year...so thank you for this reminder :)

Although my boyfriend doesn't hunt deer, he hunts geese...so there is not quite the payoff!

  3. My stepdad LOVES hunting too. My parents live in Maine, but they visit often and my stepdad wants to come hunting here soon (I live in the Dayton area). I will have to tell him about your husbands big buck. That is a very pretty deer. Where does he hunt? Does he want to put it on your wall?

  5. He hunts on his families land in Martinsville, OH. It's east about 1 hour from Columbus. He is going to get it mounted and it will be on the wall in the man den next to last years kill. His name is Murphy.
