Now Entering...

The deathtrap crib.

Example 1: the bumper
apparently this adorable cushion isn't just for looks, it can cause suffocation...
example 2: the sleep positioner
it's just been found that 12 children in 13 years has suffocated in one of these too.  good thing I have the "breathable" version...
and to top that all off, example 3: my child likes to sleep on her belly
when I was a babe it was recommended that we sleep on our stomachs, and is probably why I still sleep on my stomach, but these days it's a big NO NO.

Good thing KP sleeps in her swing, this thing is a deathtrap waiting to happen!

  2. We have the same set up. Minus the baby.. she'll be arriving next month ;) I found my 'dream' baby bedding on SALE from PB so I just couldn't pass it up! We have the sleep positioner and are going to use that until she can roll over, then we have the breathable bumper. Have a great day!

  3. Oh, my! I love you even more!

My kids both slept on their stomachs from the day they came home from the hospital. AND had a bumper. AND they had blankets (the horror)!

  5. Granted I'm not a mother but I'm a firm believer in going with your gut! You know whats best for you and your baby. That being said I hate the way they portray statistics of baby products. The geek in me is going to come out. 12 children is a tragedy no matter what, but over 13 years it is not an accurate statistic or portrayal since you don't know how many were in the study. Was this out of 20, 200, 2000? I also wonder if those deaths were due to misuse, neglect, stupidity, medical factors, etc rather then a bad product. While I question things like that though nothing beats good old gut instinct.

  7. So funny..baby girl is only 2 weeks old and already wants to roll over and sleep on her tummy...as far as the bumpers I've heard the suffocation thing too. I guess it will be awhile before she sleeps in her crib so I haven't made the decision.

  8. I swaddle E in the swaddle me (she LOVES that thing and when an arm comes up, she wakes up!)...and lay her in the sleep positioner (but closer down by her legs). She now can roll, and she will try to roll IN her swaddle, which then WOULD be dangerous b/c she cant get her arms out to push herself back over. SOooo. The sleep positioner works for us. Plus, we have the breathable version, too. But her face never gets near it! And--they get so moveable so fast, they can get themselves out of positions they get stuck in 9x out of 10 ya know?

  10. I love all your bedding choices... so cute! She is such a doll. My sister used that pillow too, and I have heard mixed reviews about them. Hope you have an amazing weekend with your family.

  11. Well I think that crib is adorable. I'm sure everything that has to do with babies is considered a death trap someway.

  12. OMG! (she's way cute, btw...), but you can make yourself crazy with all the recalls, etc. out there nowadays!!!

back when I had my daughter, doctors recommended sleeping on their sides. I liked that idea, and did it for my son also, but by then they had changed their minds!

just use your best judgement and keep the monitor right by your head!

    good luck to you!
