Oh Hey! Look At Me Crafting!

OK so I've crafted and lived to tell about it before.  I mean I did make a pretty cute canvas for Kendall's room and who can forget the balloon wreath from her first birthday party?  But when it comes to being creative I'm better in the kitchen than in the craft room, true story.
But I've had the balloon wreath hanging on the front door since my birthday, a month ago, and it was time for some sprucing up!  So where do I turn?  Pinterest of course.  I spy, with my little eye, this little ditty and knew it was the perfect inspiration for this Easter/spring/summer.
I set out to HobLob and initially had visions of pastels dancing through my head, maybe a few Easter patterns thrown in there and then I stumbled upon this fabric set and knew I had to have it.
So pretty, right? And it'll transition from spring to summer so much better than pastels.    Side note: this project would have been much cheaper had I just bought some ribbon or bulk fabric.  This fabric was in a pre-assembled set but if you are like me seeing the endless rows of fabric and ribbon will make your head spin faster than Linda Blair in the Exorcist.
The making of this wreath was brutal.  It took me all day and into the night.  My fingers hurt from cutting strips thanks to the pinking shears from hell and my finger tips hurt from weaving in and out of the stupid metal wire wreath.  Needless to say I won't be tying any knots, any time soon {remind me of this when I want to make one of these for KP's 2nd birthday party}.
But the end result?  Totally worth it!

I love it, love it, love it!  I love it so much that I debated even putting it on the front door because out in the country it won't even be seen much.  I love it so much that I even took pictures with a real camera!  Now THAT'S love

  5. May I offer a suggestion on the next one? Don't mess with the pinking shears; just rip the fabric. Pinking the fabric keeps it from fraying...but since you're not going to be tossing it in the washer (I assume), it doesn't much matter. I'd just put a little snip in the fabric and rip away. Much faster, and you're guaranteed it'll be straight.

  8. Very cute, I've made a couple of these before, many years ago. But you had to wrap the fabric around a screw driver and then stab it into the wreath. Tying it sounds much better to me, I can't tell you how many times I ended up stabbing myself instead...very painful experience!

  10. You did awesome girl! I love it! I actually just started a wreath project last week and it ended up being a big fail. Literally, I suck at wreath making! You, however, DO NOT!

  12. I love it! It looks so good! I don't know if I have the patience but I would love to attempt it. And it makes all that tedious work worth it when a project actually turns out! I hate when I put all the time into something and I hate it when it's done! Good job!

  13. It's super cute! But your comment alone about it hurting your fingers and taking forever will leave me just admiring from afar instead of making one myself :P I love to craft, but I'm gonna pass ;)
