All About Kendall: 23 Months

As we approach KP's 2nd birthday {seriously how did that happen?!} I wanted to take a moment and document somethings that are happening with the {almost} birthday girl.  Why?  Because this stage is super fun and I don't want to forget it, ever.
*
A few weeks ago she asked to take her Pillow Pet to bed. I thought, "heck no!  no toys in the bed!!" but then I thought maybe it'd be good to get her acquainted with a pillow for when we do make the big-girl-bed switcheroo.  So she's been sleeping with it ever since.  I must say it's the cutest sight I ever did see.
{as you can see we've still yet to get the baboo away at night}
*
Can we talk about how much these kiddos change in just ONE year?  I mean last year she was just walking at this time.  She didn't talk much, at all.  She was a little baldy butt baby girl.  And this year?  She's a person, with a personality, vocabulary, and attitude.  I love it but it also makes me sad because I hardly remember last year, already.
Gah I love her.
*
Speaking of speaking, girlfriend is HILARIOUS.  She says things {as I'm sure most toddlers do} that make me scratch my head and laugh.  I mean where do they get these things?  Yesterday I got her out of bed and the FIRST thing out of her mouth was "baby Norah?" {my BFFs brand new baby girl, who KP has NEVER met}.  When I said "what about baby Norah?" she replied "ah come Ken-all house".  I mean really?  She wants to have a playdate?  Gah I think my heart melted a little.
*
I think this video is the funniest.  I mean some may say it's inapropro but this is my life.  Kendall poops in her sleep all the time.  Normally when I get her out in the morning or up from a nap she has a poop diaper.  It's gross and I don't get it but it's what she does.  Last week it was SO smelly and I said "EWWWW  Kendall! You pooped!"  She proceeded to tell me that Daddy pooped, Mommy pooped, Chanel pooped, Casey pooped but the best?  Blaming it on blankie.
{does it get any cuter?}
*
She still loves her some Dora.  Sadly for her when we downgraded our cable service we lost Nick Jr. but thankfully I have about 6 episodes on the DVR that we watch over and over and over and over.  She was starting to show favoritism toward Minnie again and I was started to get nervous seeing as I have this whole Dora shin-dig planned for her party.  But alas, ask her what show she wants to watch?  Dora.  What PJs does she want to wear?  Dora.  What kind of fruit snacks?  Dora.  So yeah, we're still Dora obsessed.
*
Speaking of Doe-rah. Have you guys ever heard of Busy Books?  They are a total life-saver. My mom bought her the Mickey one a few months back and she keeps it at her house so KP has something that's special over there.  She just got her the Dora one and we brought it to a restaurant with us this weekend and ate our first meal in peace since Kendall's been like 3 weeks old.  She continued playing with it when we got home and when she woke up the next morning I had put it all away and she got it out as if she had never seen it before.  Pure bliss.  She just likes standing all the figurines up, move them around the playmat, rinse and repeat.
*
Something Kendall does not love?  Butter. Like she freaks out if she sees me put butter on something she's about to eat.  She'll even come into the kitchen and "supervise" just to make sure.  Not sure where she got it but she's totally obsessed with all things NO BUTTER.  She also hates Target.  WTF?  I mean I'm starting to wonder if she's even my kid.
*
One word.  Puddle Jumper. If you don't have one of these for your toddler I suggest you run to your nearest Target {if your kid allows} and get one {they're on sale for $15 right now}.  Kendall loves to swim!  We actually go to the pool 2-3 times a week.  We have seen everyone and their mother sporting the Puddle Jumper and it seemed so easy but I've tried the arm floaties on KP before and she hated them.  When we were at Target last week I tried the Puddle Jumper on and she seemed to like it.  But then we got home and she saw it again and didn't take it off for the rest of the evening.  The true test was at the pool. Saturday we went swimming and OMG it was like a whole new world.  She can swim independently with this thing and she LOVES it {so do I}.
And she loves to tell you that there's an "oct-puss" and "cam" on it too.
*
Something else she's been doing a lot of lately is stacking.  She'll stack pretty much anything. And she's so meticulous about it too.  Whatever she's stacking has to be even, facing the same way, and if one is out of sorts she gets bent out of shape over it. OCD much?  Yesterday she was quiet in her bedroom and when I went to check on her she had lined up all her diapers, perfectly, by herself.  After nap? Same situation, different formation.
I can't make this stuff up.
*
And by far the cutest thing I've seen her do, like ever, is have breakfast with her friends.  We've just started getting into the pretend play stuff {baby dolls, kitchen, etc.} so last week when I walked into the playroom to see she had sat all of her "friends" in chairs and was "eating" with them, I almost died.
Can you stand it?
*
So yeah, I think I say this with every "stage" but this is such a fun age.  I mean daily she amazes me, makes me laugh, and most importantly teaches me something.

  11. Love, love, love...the puddle jumper! My daughter had one from 18 months and we took it off last summer (she turned three in March) and she was swimming without ANY help. I honestly credit the puddle jumper for this. She had no lessons what so ever; however, I think this gave her confidence. We just had to remind her to kick, kick, kick!! Glad Kendall loves the water!

  12. my favorite is lining up the diapers like that! That is too much! I just pulled out the 4th pic from last year to compare to this year...super sad. I dont remember her being so little either...thats why you need another. lol.
    My daughter is far more affectionate and loving to her dolls than me.

  16. This is such a fun stage and trust me...it gets even more fun with the pretend play. I love that Addie always wants to play dollies, Barbies, dress-up, etc. Blake is even getting into it now and I LOVE watching the two of them play together. Just wait till you have 2. Talk about your heart exploding :)

  19. Such a sweet post. I've been telling myself (and jotting down ideas for) a 2 year post for W to document all of these little things. It's like if I don't do it he'll stop growing! And I'm not even one of those sappy mommas about getting older!
