Whew! We're back. We're recovering from post vacation hangovers, and real hangovers too. We had a great time, needless to say. And, despite what the forecast predicted, our weather was perfect. Hot, sunny, and not a drop of rain. I would be lying if I said I didn't miss the commotion of 18 people in one house. Ok, well, the silence this morning is nice. And so is my clean, sand-free bed.
We did a whole lot of nothing but relaxing, sipping cocktails, and eating, lots. It was the definition of a vacation, truly. I was nervous about how Kendall would react to the beach, sand, ocean, but she loved it. She was the poster child for a beach baby. She loved loved loved it. It made my beach loving heart very happy.
As if Kendall's ah-DORA-ble birthday wasn't enough, she had a fantastic actual birthday too. It was low key, no presents {ok well a few from Gigi}, a box cake, and it was just sweet. We didn't really do anything different than any other day of vacation but when you're at the beach every day is like your birthday.
One thing that I wanted to do, to set the day apart, was have a little birthday photo shoot. My mother-in-law is like a built in professional photographer and was happy to oblige. I love that she loves taking pictures.
I bought some cheap balloons {which wound up flying away, go figure} and besides our somewhat coordinated outfits I had no expectations.
I got this dress for her at my baby shower and was worried that she wasn't going to get to wear it, thankfully her birthday was the perfect occasion.
She wasn't too keen on holding the balloons {until they flew away, of course} but I just had to include them even if it meant I carried them. I'm pretty sure a toddler on the beach is the most fun experience of my life, to date.
I think it's safe to say that this little girl stole her daddy's heart during this trip. As if he weren't already wrapped around her little finger. He said multiple times that her behavior, reactions, and all around cuteness on this trip made him really really want another one. He even went up with her, every day, and took a nap. Preciousness.
Quite possibly one of my favorite pictures to date. Love everything about this. Have I mentioned how much I love the beach? Minus the cockroaches.
Easy breezy beautiful beach life. It doesn't get any better than this. Am I right?
Can we just talk about how old she looks in this picture, for a minute? I mean she's 2, not 5. This is also right before the balloons flew away which caused an epic meltdown. You would never know it though.
If only Kendall were looking in this picture. Do you see this view? This is what I woke up to for 7 days. This is what I could wake up to for the rest of my life. I mean, I could.
She loves the sand so much that she may or may not have eaten it a few times. Like in these pics. She also loves jumping in it and finding sea shells. I don't know if she's ever going to adjust to Ohio life again.
I just absolutely adore this girl. Love being her mama. She makes my heart swell and burst with pride.
While the rest of us had a great vacation, I think it's safe to say Kendall had the best vacation. She's truly a lucky girl and I don't know what we're going to do to top this birthday next year. Disney anyone?
I cannot believe I have a two-year-old. Cannot. But she's the cutest, smartest, funniest, most loving two-year-old I know. And the best part? She's mine, all mine. {well and Jimmy too}
We'll resume our regularly scheduled SO WHAT! Wednesday tomorrow. Today, I'm still soaking up my sunburn.
