I used to be able to get on from work and EVERY day the first thing I would do was check my blog. I would also check and respond to all of my blogs on my blog roll and search for new blogs to follow. This is when I became obsessed. I started blogging more than working, bad BAD girl! Well now I am blocked from Blogger, along with many other sites and it’s miserable. I now sit at work and type most of my blog posts in Word and email them home so that I can post at a later date (still obsessed obviously). I feel terrible that I cannot respond to all of my fabulous comments or post on other blogs like I used to. I know it’s not a big deal but I just hate when people comment on my blog and I can’t return the favor. Everyone loves comments! I do my best when I am at home but sometimes wifely duties get in the way…sorry but Mr. Husband comes first, for now (TOTALLY KIDDING, he will always be #1).
I have made many friends via Blogger and I am so grateful to have “met” each one. Sometimes when I tell people about my online “friends” I get strange looks and comments. I don’t care. So yeah, I guess if someone came to me and said some of the things I do I might look at them like they had a third eye too, but to me it seems totally normal. Thanks to blogging I have seen and learned things I might not have otherwise. I am so nosey (yes I admit it) so I love that people blog and let me into their world for a brief moment. I think it’s really interesting to see what people in different parts of the world are up to and what interests them. I get so many great ideas from blogging, like recipes, decoration ideas, quotes to live by, sales, wedding ideas; the list could go on forever.
I am also extremely grateful for my followers! I never in my wildest dreams thought I would have 115 followers! Like I said, when I started this I didn’t think ANYONE would want to read about lil ole me! Now every time I get a new follower I tell Mr. Husband and he thinks I’m “so popular” and thinks it’s really neat too. I’ve heard of people getting negative or even nasty comments and I am proud to say that I have never had anyone say something that has offended me or that I’ve had to delete. I think I have the sweetest followers in the world and I hope I continue keeping you entertained so you’ll stick around. Thanks everyone!
I think the REAL reason I like blogging so much is because I find it very therapeutic. For some reason I have NEVER had a journal or diary, well with the exception of one 6th grade diary entry in which I complained that my BFF Kelly always wanted to be Kelly Kapowski from Saved By The Bell when we played house, but that’s beside the point. I always wanted to keep a journal and now I use my blog as my outlet. Some may call it crazy that I “journal” my thoughts to the entire world instead of keeping them hidden under my mattress, but I think it’s healing. I have always been the type that wonders what others think (I know other’s opinions shouldn’t matter but let’s face it, they do) and I value their input so this is a way for me to get out my feelings, frustrations, and joys and receive feedback whether it be good or bad. I also write better than I speak, if that makes sense, because a lot of the time I speak before I think whereas now I can write, save, proofread, delete, and rewrite and sound like I know what I’m talking about. Ok that sentence totally nullified its meaning but you know what I mean.
Anyway…that’s why I blog, what about you? Are you obsessed? Do you feel guilty (like me) when you can’t respond to everyone or on every blog you follow? Do you find it beneficial?
i started blogging for the same reason. to keep a journal/online scrapbook of mine and my fiances life. i love having my blog now!! no one that i know has one and i don't think anyone i know in real life reads mine.
ReplyDeletei am kinda obsessed with blogging now. it almost feels like it has filled a void in my life and now i think i'd be lost without it.
sometimes it is overwhelming. i feel like i can't comment as much as i'd like to even i make time to read. it's so much fun though!!
I definitely am also slightly obsessed! I started because it just seemed like an interesting little world and I wanted to check it out. With the rough past few months I've had it's really been a great outlet and I've become addicted.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely glad you blog, your blog is one of my favorites!
I just started my blog and I want more followers, hint, hint!! I started it to have a journal of the goings on in my life. We are planning a destination wedding in April, both in school and starting new careers, I want to document these challenging times. I also love reading other blogs and hope to meet some bloggers in the future.
ReplyDeleteI go through phases where I am obsessed - then when I am busier IRL I get a little less obsessed- well except I feel like my blog friends will think that I abandoned them...so maybe I'm always a bit obsessed! I first started blogging as a freshman in college on Xanga and I have kept journals since I was 9 - so writing has always been near and dear to me. I switched to blogger a year ago from Xanga to start over and express myself more as an adult. I like public blogging because its a chance to connect with people whom I would never meet otherwise. Fellow bloggers have opened my eyes to so many new things- be it new lines of cosmetics, to DIY projects, to how to handle wedding planning stress (which of course is how I found you!) so I'm so glad that I do it and don't plan on giving it up anytime soon! Great question!
ReplyDeleteI also am surprised by the joy I get out of blogging! I love it!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I feel the same way you do. I started it to have a journal of my day-to-day life, even the mundane. And it has turned into soooo much more. I've met some amazing people and feel so extremely blessed!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love blogging and it keeps me connected in some way with friends and family since I moved away from home...I don't get so homesick! And I've met so many wonderful people who've touched my life and for that I am so thankful!
ReplyDeleteI love blogging and I love all of the things I have learned from everyone else who does it! I love all of the people i have met - and I love sharing things about my life and seeing how much I have in common with other people! I am so glad you blog! :) I have loved getting to know you!
ReplyDeleteI agree! I love blogging and I do feel bad when people start following me and I just don't have enough time in the day to get back to them. I started blogging to have something to do in my spare time. Then over time I started loving it more and more!!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you started blogging and that I found you!!
ReplyDeleteI really love it, a lot more than I thought I would. It started as just a way for me to document our crazy journey through law school and the army and turned into this fabulous social circle that has drawn me so close to other women my age and who are just starting their marriages and careers, like I am. It's been fantastic!!
I read lots of blogs before I started my own. I like it because its a great way to share all of your ideas (recipes, DIYS, stories etc) and now im a blogger junkie! Ive only had a blog since august and I get so excited when i get comments and followers :) yay for blogs :)
ReplyDeleteBlogging is SO therapeutic for me! I started it as a fun site for pics and ranting about this and that.. and now it's a daily obsession for me! I agree about the comment thing when I have crazy busy weeks and I cant comment like I'd like on other people's... but I think we all have those times.. :) I love your new layout btw, girly! :)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to keep up with the details as we planned our wedding. It is also a wonderful way to meet new people, and have loved all the things that I've learned. :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you shared this! I have become obsessed too. Obsessed. :P And I def do feel guilty for not being able to respond to everything.
ReplyDeleteI've had a few blogs over the years. I started because it was easier and faster than a diary. Then I did it to keeps my friends updated.
ReplyDeleteNow? I just love having a place to put my thoughts, get feedback, etc. I love it!
I think it's totally natural to be obsessed--it happened to me! You get so sucked in and it's fun to keep up with everyone's blogs. I don't know what I'd do if they blocked blogger at work, though!
