My Quest for the PERFECT Drug Store Makeup

Ok so this recessions got me nipping my beauty budget in the bud! I LOVE LOVE LOVE expensive makeup and don't dare tell me you can't tell the difference, you totally can! I have decided to use this as an opportunity to do my own little drug store vs. department store search. You see it in Glamour and Allure every year but why take their word for it? I'll be the judge! I'll be testing foundation, blush, lip gloss, mascara, eye shadow, moisturizer, etc. Oh and I guess for comparison purposes I should add that I have combination skin and while I don't have acne I do get the occasional pimple here and there.
Up first, Almay Nearly Naked Liquid Makeup

Upon first use I hated this, mainly because I have been using mineral makeup since it came out so this was QUITE different. I decided to stick it out, "get used to it" if you will. Well I used the whole bottle (which went FAST I might add) and I'm still not sold. It definitely didn't feel "naked". I could always tell I had something on my face and the coverage, eh not so much. I felt like it made my face very oily too, even in the dry winter air, something NO woman wants! So sorry Almay, I'm usually a fan, but this gets two thumbs DOWN!
On to the next...Cover Girl Clean Makeup Oil Control Foundation. Stay Tuned!

  2. The Revlon mineral makeup isn't SO bad. I use a good primer so the crappy drugstore stuff works more like the good makeup brands.

  4. I used this and I absolutely hated it! It made me look so shiny. I didn't even get through a quarter of the bottle before I threw it away!

  6. "Drug store brands" here are 2 - 3 times the price you guys pay. I was just in the US and stocked up! I also picked up some Bare Minerals.

I got 2 Revlon foundations for $13US at CVS. Here it's $32AUS per bottle! (And our dollar is almost on par with the US at the moment)

  8. Oh, I'm anxiously awaiting your results! I've been curious about this for a long time. I've fallen in love with Mary Kay foundation, but I find I can do everything else at the drug store.

  9. I said Revlon but it is actually Physicians Formula mineral makeup that works pretty good with a decent primer. Whoops! :)

  10. I am very curious to read about your reviews. I am definitely a brand name user. I love MAC & Bobbie Brown and use Lancome Definicils mascara. Everyone tells me I'm wasting my money on mascara but I can't find one I like that even compares. So, let me know if you find a good mascara for less than $26.50. :)
