Tummy Tuesdays- Week 16

16 weeks= 4 months! Hard to believe that much time has past already! I’ve had lots of firsts this past week. First of the firsts, I had my first real craving this week! Everyone says, “What about mac & cheese?” well that wasn’t a craving so much as just something I love to eat all the time. Yesterday I got my first real “GOTTAHAVEITRIGHTNOW!” craving. Too bad it’s for Schlotzsky’s Deli’s vegetarian sandwich (minus olives) and the closest one is now 83 miles away! Who gets cravings for things they can’t get?! I’m beyond upset about this. So now I’m going to have to try and recreate the AMAZING sandwich myself. *wish me luck*

The second of the firsts is I woke up today like “YEP there’s my belly”. Up till now I’ve just felt and looked chubby but today was the first day I felt like I “popped”. I finally feel like it looks like a pregnant belly, especially in clothing. I like it, I really do. I’ve been waiting for this moment since the day we found out and I’m so glad that people can SEE that I’m pregnant and not just packing on the pounds. Oh and I can no longer “suck it in” either. It’s out and proud!

And finally I had my first realization that I can’t do everything the same as I did before there was a bun in my oven. I was taping off our bathroom and kitchen to paint last night and was QUITE uncomfortable squatting down behind the toilet for any length of time. I’m not even “big” yet and I was already huffing and puffing my way through it, made me think of what it’s going to be like in 5 more months when I’m waddling down the isle at BFF’s wedding, oh what a sight!

Now I’m still waiting for her first movements! I CANNOT wait to feel that little flick/flutter/bubble whatever it may be. My doctor told me I should expect to feel her between 16-18 weeks so here’s hoping!

Sleep still stinks. I’ve been sleeping with a body pillow at my side which helps keep my leg elevated so that my hip doesn’t hurt but doesn’t help because it takes up as much room as another person in the bed!

Oh I’ve gotten that pregnancy breakout that I read about a while back, how awesome is that? Not only do I get to get fat but also zits to go along with it! HELLO! Where’s the pregnancy “glow”? I’d hardly say a 2nd trimester breakout classifies!

Can we talk about pregnancy and sex for just a minute? {Grandma, Mom, and Karen can stop reading at this point!} Now that they’re out of the room, didn’t I read that you have an increased appetite for sex? Well I beg to differ! The last thing I want to do is be naked in front of the love of my life right now! I mean I know it’s a baby and not fat but…well…I look FAT! It makes me think of the scene in Knocked Up where she says, I can't. I can't do this, I just... I can't. I can't. I can't focus like this. I look disgusting from this angle. I can feel you looking up at my chins. I know I look gross. And my boobs are all, like, squishy, and they're flopping around.” That’s exactly what it’s like. NOT sexy.

Anyway, the part you’re all waiting for, here’s the belly.

  3. look at that baby belly! it's perfect! i love it.. it's so awesome when strangers begin noticing- a few of my patients today had asked, "i hate to ask this, epecially if im wrong, but are you having a baby?!" and i won't lie, it made me all sorts of giddy!! And.. that appetite for sex? When you find yours, let me know where it was, OK? That scene from Knocked Up makes me hysterical everytime.. "I'm all.. National Geographic and whatnot.." Bahahahah. So my life. So funny. Lol. :) Happy 16 weeks!! Yay!!!!

  5. you'll feel her so soon :) I felt a lot of what I referred to as "popcorn kicks"...they were right above my va-jj basically, haha...and felt like popcorn popping...

its definitely the baby and NOT gas, gas doesnt feel like THAT.

I'm guessing you'll actually 'pop' closer to 22-24 weeks or so...we'll see. Right now, theres a cute little tum...but it'll round out and get all cute.

Oh, and isn't it crazy how you can get out of breath even so soon? I mean now at 30 weeks I'm huffing and puffing a bit more, but even at 16 weeks, with all that extra blood pumping you can really feel it.

  11. A girl I went to High School with is pregnant with her 2nd baby and she is living in South Africa so her husband can finish school. He's originally from SA. She has been craving American food that she can't get there. Hope you solve the sandwich dilemma!
