Brown Chicken, Brown Cow

So I gotta question for ya…I was listening to my morning radio show and two of the personalities went to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and the other wasn’t “able”. So, like any NORMAL person, he wanted to watch it to see if he could see his coworkers in the audience and his wife {we’ll call her Prude Wife}  REFUSED to let him watch.  Refused. So it made me think, are all women like this?
For me, I’m like, “Mr. Husband get your butt in here, the VS fashion show is about to start!!!” as I eat a bowl of salt+lime popcorn in my sweats and oogle over Adriana Lima’s AH-MAZING post baby body {bitch}.

Prude Wife says, 1. It’s degrading and 2. It’s porn.

This wife says, 1. They signed up for this and 2. I didn’t see any “penetration”. I’ve seen worse in music videos, hello Britney Spears. And 3. You are insecure. I mean sure these girls are hotter than I’ll ever be, I get that and I’m FINE with it, but Mr. Husband couldn’t care less, and he’s not comparing or complaining. Plus, they are ON THE TV, it’s not like they can jump out and give him a lap dance-although that would make for an interesting story.
Call me crazy but besides the Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony the VS Fashion Show is my #1 favorite “holiday” show of the year, I’ll take it over Rudolph any day. The costumes are MAY-JAH and the walking 2x4’s with cantaloupes girls always look like they are having fun, not gaunt and depressing like in a “real” fashion show. Throw in some Katy Perry {who annoys me just a little} and Akon and we’re ready to party!

So…do you L.O.V.E. the VS Fashion Show as much as me? Do you look forward to it ALL YEAR? Do you “let” your man-friend watch? Or do you think its borderline pornographic like Prude Wife?

Talwk amongst yaselves. Discuss.

  1. My husband would whine if I made him watch it and beg to watch House Hunters or Food Network instead, hahha.

But seriously. It's not like this guy would be watching it in the bed room for a little "alone time". You can seriously make anything dirty {hello creepy pedophiles} so it seems insane to censor EVERYTHING.

Plus, I agree with you--she is totally insecure. And maybe he has done something to make her feel that way {i.e. cheated before, porn addiction, whatever}. But, it's sort of like teenagers--the more you tell them NOT to do something, the more they want to! He's a damn grown man! Unless it is a problem like an addiction, cheating, or causing their sex life to go south, who cares?

  3. I also LOVE the VS Fashion Show, and I was so upset when I realized that I forgot to watch/DVR it! :( Oh, and my husband wouldn't even WANT to watch it! He would probably think it's 'crap' tv, just like all my other shows that I watch. lol ;)

  4. Well I told Robbie that it was on and he goes, "And why are you telling me this?" He could care less about any TV really, unless it is football.

I don't mind watching it, I just cannot believe how good those women look after having babies...not fair! I've never even had a baby and I couldn't dream of looking that good haha!

  5. LOVE the vs show and you know that. Josh never, ever complains about having to watch half naked hotties. LOL. we'd all have kick-butt bodies if we had chefs and personal trainers and our job was to be a hottie!

  6. I completely agree with everything! Seriously, Prude Wife thinks it's degrading? How about emasculating your husband on a radio show because you're insecure? Get. Over. Yourself.

I love to watch the show because under all the wings, there's cute shoes, bras, and panties...even my plus one will make comments on what he likes and doesn't like. I take mental notes, and the next time I'm in VS, I'll see what I can pick up. It's a win-win...and I'm not a 2x4 with cantaloupes. ha.

  7. I LOVE the VS fashion show too. Josh and I watched it together last night.

I will admit, I am a little jealous of how fabulous the angels bodies are, but I chose to think they are (beautiful) freaks of nature ;-)

  9. I totally love the VS fashion show... I missed it this year as I was slaving away redoing the bathroom though. =( So far my favorite one was when Justin Timberlake performed on it!! I still youtube it to see his performance.

  10. I completely agree with you!! I DO NOT understand why some wives won't let their husbands watch something like that. We go to Hooters on a regular basis, and 99% of the time it is my idea. And I am usually the one telling my husband to look at that girl with her boobs hanging out of her shirt :) (They have AWESOME chocolate cake!!!)
I think if any of these women chose the job they are doing, they knew that men (and women) were going to be looking at them. It is definitely not degrading to them.
Anywho....my husband is always coming home with me, so I have no concerns about him ogling a bit at some hotties!

  11. Was it Dave's wife? She was always such a whiny beotch. I couldn't stand when she would call in.

Anyways. No I don't watch it. Not because I'm offended, but because I didn't even know it was on. I probably wouldn't have anyways, I don't really get the appeal.... and Adam was too busy watching basketball to care.

  12. I LOVE the VS fashion show and watch it every year but this year I was having a major "ugh I just ate too much pasta and I'm so bloated" day. So I did what any mature adult would do, I boycotted those ladies and their perfect bodies for my sanity. Then of course I wish I would've watched it. Oh well.

As far as the bf watching it, psh who cares?? You have to be some kind of insecure to not let your husband watch a lingerie fashion show on t.v. I don't even think the bf knew the show was on this year.

  13. Love the VS fashion show and though I didn't catch it this year (boo!) I can tell you that I would be the person telling him to shush because the shows about to start!

  14. I freakin' love the VS Fashion Show. I watch it every year and beg my hubby to watch it with me. He'll watch for about 20 minutes, if that, and then he's over it. He'd rather watch football/basketball, whatever was on that night.

P.S. I would kill for a pair of those incredible wings!

  15. If I looked like those models, my ass would be right up there shakin' it with em. And my man can look all he wants. No shame in that.

  16. When I was India, I used to stay up late to watch it, for like half hour, because they would air it very late there as it was considered 'inappropriate' :p So, they would air it after midnight :-o This time, being here in the US, I watched it with my husband. It is always fun to see what they are wearing. My hubs watched it for 15 minutes and then he got busy with the game he was playing on his laptop!

  17. I'm from Columbus so I know exactly what radio station you're referring too. It sounds like she has a lot of issues with anything her husband does. My fiance used to watch the VS show with one of my good girl friends every year until she & her husband moved away and it didn't bother me one bit. It's not really my kind of thing to watch so I was happy to have someone else watch it with him haha!

Can't wait to meet you at the Cbus blogger meet up next week!

  18. I came home from book club and my husband had it on - I didn't even realize it until I just read your post. I'm with you - watch away, he can dream, too ;) But I do feel the same way about their bodies (such bitches!)

    You look great :)

  19. I completely forgot to watch it. But I'm with you. I encourage him to watch it, cause I want to as well. But he really doesn't care to. He doesn't get it. I just sit and self hate though.... if only I could look like that post-baby! Ahhhhhh, to be rich.

  21. I don't usually watch it, but if I did I totally wouldn't mind hubs watching it! Like you said...it's just TV!

  22. I have to admit, I was shocked to see that my hub DVR'd it. At first I was disgusted but then I thought "Who cares? You're stuck with me!" Ha.

  23. Yes! I love it! I totally look forward to it and so does my hub! We like watching it together and I feel the same way you do: Those girls are beautiful BUT that is not our life. My husband thinks I am beautiful! :)

  24. I enjoy it, but I don't watch it every year. Hubs would probably never watch with me, but if he would I def wouldn't mind. Heck, even if he would watch it without me I wouldn't mind. I couldn't imagine being so closed minded, but that is just me.
