Do you have a bucket list?
I never had one but this weekend I thought a lot about things I want to do. Things I want to show Kendall. Things I want to prove to myself I can do. Things I want to be proud of.
Being a mom puts a whole new perspective on things. I want to be the best Shannon I can be, for my daughter. Sure I've always wanted to be happy and healthy but knowing that I have a small person looking up to me and looking for guidance and approval, well...it's different now.
So this weekend I finally made a real bucket list. And it goes something like this:
Donate something more than blood.
Go to the Kentucky Derby.
Do meaningful work.
Start a business.
Go to The Mall of America.
Run a 5K.
Visit Napa Valley.
Join a church.
Kiss in the rain.
Go to Disney as a family.
Go on a hot air balloon ride.
Swim with the dolphins.
Own a vacation home.
Go surfing {learn how to surf}.
Pay it forward.
Own a home.
Travel 1st class.
Go zip-lining.
Get a boob lift.
Be truly happy.
Have no debt.
Punch someone.
Go rock-climbing.
Do a cleanse diet.
Meet my blog friends {all of them}.
Build a dream home.
Visit Rockefeller Center for the tree lighting ceremony.
Influence others.
Take Kendall to the American Girl store and have tea.
Take dance lessons with Jimmy.
Grow a garden.
Enjoy a beach bonfire and clam bake.
Share a secret that might change someones life.
And I think that should keep me busy for a while, no? As you can see I've crossed very few things off this list. It was only until just now that I realized how many things I want to do and see before I die. Sounds morbid but I really need to start living life instead of watching each day go buy, waiting for the next.
Perhaps my New Years resolution will be to cross some of these things off. Let's start by visiting Napa.
So what's on your bucket list?
I'm currently working on a "before 30 bucket list" and some of our items overlap! And I feel ya on the boob lift :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome post Shannon!! I have so many similar things on my bucket list! And you're absolutely right- it keeps things in perspective so we an live each day to the fullest! :)
ReplyDeleteHere's an idea: Come to the Mall of America AND meet your blog friend Erica! It's supah close to me.
ReplyDeleteI've been working on my list too, we have a few of the same. You know, I live in the home of the Kentucky Derby, Louisville.. & I've never been. lol. I've been to the infield at the Oaks, which is like a giant drunk party fest, but never the actual Derby. Love your list though! :) Hope you're having a great day!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to meet... come to Napa and we could!! Kill two birds with one stone on that list!!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I am now going to make my own bucket list...
ReplyDeleteOkay, when you make it to the MoA, I will go up and meet you there, and then you, Kendall, Leah, and I can all go to the American Girl store for tea, because then I can fullfill MY dream of meeting you and going to the American Girl store.
ReplyDeleteAww! Great post! I totally want to do that hot air balloon thing too. Ah!
ReplyDeleteLove your perspective and the things on your list are so fun! I do need you to elaborate on learning direction??? Did you not know about it before? lol!
ReplyDeletegreat list! It got me thinking of what I'd put on mine.
ReplyDeleteI said on twitter that I want to see the tree lighting ceremony in NYC! Lets go together ;)
ReplyDeleteYou will LOVE Napa Valley. Other than San Francisco, it's one of my favorites places to go in Cali. Bring a DD with you, though-- cops everywhere ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you already have quite a few marked off! I share quite a few with you, no surprise. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I just wrote my 30 things I want to do before 30 list last week!
ReplyDeleteBisous :)
I love this....and got me thinking a lot. I might try to make one of my own.
ReplyDeleteHave you heard of the 101 in 1001 lists? If not, I have a link across the top of my blog--it's basically like a bucket list, but actually sets a time-limit on things, which I kind of like, because I can't just put it off for later!
ReplyDeleteI love Bucket Lists!I have one on my blog too, and we share some things on our lists! Some of yours I have done, like go to Disney as a family and take my daughter to American Girl for tea. However, since I have 3 daughters & my middle daughter was only 1, and my youngest wasn't even a twinkle in her daddy's eye at the time, I guess I'll have to re-do that one! Disney too, although they've all been, we'll definitely have to go again when my youngest is a little older so she can get really excited and actually remember it afterward. I also want to be a vegetarian and go zip lining, and I can't remember what else was on your list!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Erica & Amanda, when you make it to MoA let me know! That way I can help you cross things off your bucket list :) and they have an American Girl store!!
ReplyDeleteAnd when you come to Disney, you BETTER see me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) After all, that is on your list :)
ReplyDeleteI am so very amused that "punch someone" made it onto the list. And also, quite proud of you that it hasn't yet been crossed off. I will offer you my face if you want. Anything to help a sister achieve a goal.
