SO WHAT Wednesday!

This week I'm saying SO WHAT! if...I am foregoing SWW this week to ask you guys a very serious question.  When I was on WordPress {bad blogger move} I used Blue Host to host my site {mistake #2} and when I made the switch back to Blogger I just assumed Blogger/GoDaddy was my host again {mistake #3}.  This past weekend Blue Host "renewed" my hosting subscription with them for $108.  Immediately I panicked because "WTF, $108?!" and I didn't even realize it was due.  So of course, like any sane person, I turned to Twitter only to find out I was being royally fucked up the ass screwed by Blue Host.  So needless to say I live chatted one of their savvy tech people to let them know I would no longer need their shitty service.
So my question to you fine ladies is this.  My subscription with Blue Host will expire on February 4, at which time my blog will be gone.  I will export everything that has been written up until that point and then import it, hopefully that will all happen seamlessly. BUT I don't know what happens after that.  I have already purchased lifeafteridew.com so that will {hopefully} remain the same but how in the world will I switch to GoDaddy as my new host so that my blog is visible once again?  Right now when I go to the settings it doesn't give me all that good stuff because I'm already hosted {I guess}.  Does that mean that once my hosting with Blue Host expires it will reappear and I'll just set up an account with GoDaddy as usual?  I don't know!  I need help!  I'm terribly afraid of my blog just disappearing on the 4th and then I will probably drown my sorrows in a box of wine and go into hiding because I can't even fathom the thought.
HELP!

  1. I really hope that you are able to get that figured out. I don't know what I would do if there wasn't Life After I "Dew" to read every morning while I'm feeding Chloe bug breakfast! Gah! I don't even want to think about that! Good luck!! I hope that it works out!

  2. Okay, so I don't know if this exactly will answer your question but maybe it will help. Just last week I bought my domain name from Wordpress and was going to switch but ended up HATING it. I cancelled my domain before I made the drastic move and it was available to purchase through blogger a day or two later. I purchased it through blogger, hosted by godaddy, and although I could access the site within an hour, my feed was not showing up in blogger dashboard of my readers. It took 72 hours for my blog to complete "transition" (that 72 was up yesterday). Now my blog shows up in reader but has like a 3 hour lag time. I have heard that all within a week everything will just work itself out because it takes a while for all the DNS servers in the world to update. But maybe I'm confused as to what you are asking because it looks like you already have a custom domain hosted by blogger?

  6. YES, like what others have mentioned... it should work itself out. once you make the switch, it may take time, but as long as you purchase your domain through blogger... it should work out!!

  8. I think you need to contact Go Daddy and have them actually transfer your domain to their hosting site so that all the content goes with it. Try calling them and asking what you need to do. Their customer service is quite helpful. You will likely need to have your domain unlocked by BH and then Go Daddy will be able to transfer it over. Be sure to ask the representative exactly what steps are required and the time frame for each step to save you extra calls.

    Good luck!

  10. Legit. Panic. Attack.

But seriously, this had to have happened before. I'm guessing that there will be lag time in feeds, so you'll have to post on fb and twitter to let people know about new posts for a little.

  11. I watched the drama unfold on Twitter! I honestly have no clue BUT the husband designs websites and works with bad daddy or whatever so if you're still stumped or unsure I can ask him to see if he would be any help for you, if you would like. Good luck! Internet stuff makes my eyes hurt.
