Baby Dew #2: 7 Weeks

Yesterday I turned 7 weeks pregnant with Baby Dew #2 and let me tell you, I feel {and look} much further. In my defense I am only 5'3" and I have a shorter torso so perhaps that's why I'm rocking a bump so early?

I'm actually starting to think that I am, in fact, further than 7 weeks and it's not just because my belly is noticeably larger {than any 7 week pregnant person I know} but lots of other things have been happening lately too.  For one, I have been feeling "movement" for over a week now. At 7 weeks the baby is only the size of a blueberry making almost impossible to feel any sort of movement. The first couple of times I chalked it up to gas but now it's been going on long enough that I know better.  I have also been having round ligament pain which {after consulting with Dr. Google} is something that doesn't happen until after 8-10 weeks.

I know every pregnancy is different and that the second time around things happen much faster, but the way I look/feel is comparable to week 16 with Kendall, a big 10 week difference.  I started thinking about the timing of things and in October is when I was taking OPKs, got a positive and we did everything we were supposed to do as soon as I got a positive OPK.  I did take a pregnancy test the beginning of November {a few days before my expected period} and it was negative, however, I'm starting to think that the reason it was negative was because I took it so soon.  I like the sound of that story much better than the "we abstained all month then "did it" one day {3DPO, at that} and got pregnant".  I have my first appointment on the 8th so I will obviously talk to my doctor then and see if we can get an earlier ultrasound to verify.

Speaking of, let's address the possibility of twins.  Every time I post a picture I get the same comment "OMG TWINS!".  Well...I'm sure it would be exciting to blog about Life After Twins but that is not a story I am interested in.  Twins don't run in our families and we didn't use fertility drugs so the chance of twins {although still possible} is low.  It would be shocking, to say the least, if we found out there were two babies in there.  I know it's not that we couldn't do it but we don't want to.  Listen, we had a hard enough time deciding that we wanted to add a second member to our family and that's where we want to keep it.  We don't want to be out-numbered by our children.  So, let's keep the twins comments to a minimum.

I'm feeling like this baby is a girl.  It's not like this crazy, strong, motherly instinct but more like I can't imagine life as a boy mom.  Like last time, we have a girl name picked out but cannot agree on a boy name, at all.  And, if you ask Kendall it's a girl.  I even mentioned the possibility that it could be a boy and she laughed.  Oh and let's not forget the Chinese gender chart, which also says girl.  We'll see!

Hmm...let's see...sleep sucks.  Like I literally wake up every hour, no joke.  I just cannot get comfortable, already.  I busted out the good ole body pillow this week {lucky Jimmy} and it helps bus then I want to switch sides in the middle of the night and it's a whole process.  I am normally a tummy sleeper so I'm fairly certain that's why I can't get comfortable any other way.

Other than that I feel great.  No morning sickness, no crazy emotional roller coaster {yet}, no maternity clothes {surprisingly} and I haven't been overly tired like I was with Kendall.  I've actually had a lot of energy and I'm happy to report I've been maintaining my 3 times a week workouts.

My next update will most likely be after my doctors appointment so hopefully I'll be able to report back on the due date/twins issue.

  1. I didn't show very early with my daughter so when my belly at 7/8 weeks was already really tight in my pants and looked like my 17 week belly I was FREAKED OUT it might be twins! I felt all along it was a boy because of how different this pregnancy is - we just had the anatomy scan and found out we're having a boy!

  3. I think you may be right that you could be further along than you originally thought. Can't wait to hear the news in about a week :)

  5. You must be farther along than 7 weeks...you have to be. I don't think my belly looked like that until 20ish weeks. And if you're not? Then you get to look all cute and pregnant longer than normal. I couldn't wait to look pregnant. I was feeling pregnant so I might as well look pregnant as opposed to looking like i was eating and drinking to much.

Can't wait to hear an update.

  10. You look so cute and have that pregnancy glow my friend! With #2 I started feeling movement around 8 weeks. Everyone, even my OB thought I was nuts, but you know your body and you know when its not gas! Its like you are more intune with everything after you have already had one baby! You look beautiful girl & Happy New Year!

  11. I think you are further than 7 weeks but did you get a period in Oct/Nov? I know you can still have some bleeding in the early stages so I guess it's possible. Can't wait to find out your actual due date. And I'll keep my fingers crossed for only one baby in there. I would freak if I had twins too.

  12. I was in a similar situation to you when I found out this time. I didn't have a bump that early, but I did feel a bit bigger and the timing was weird. I am betting they will get you in for a scan. I ended up being only 9 weeks instead of 14 at the scan, but it was worth checking since my uterus was measuring 4 weeks bigger etc. And, it will help rule out the twin thing too! We do have twins on the hubs side and I was really worried because, like you, we only want two and it was a scary thought. Only one little girl here though! :-) Good luck at your appointment!

  13. Also! I was measuring big because my son was only 9 months when I got pregnant again. I lost all the baby weight etc., but my body was not back to pre-preg functionality I guess. :-)

  17. I always both wished, and was TERRIFIED of being further along than I thought, ha! It's like "yay! I skipped the first tri, but CRAP...I better get my but in gear!"

Either way, excited to see how your first appointment goes!

  18. Movement?! You have to be further along which would be awesome to have gotten through some of it without knowing! I had a tough time recovering from the flu earlier this month and took a test and it was negative. I'm thinking boy for me. I get an ultrasound at my appointment.

  21. You mean there is such a thing as life after twins?!? Ha! You look great, however, I am glad I am where I am in my pregnancy and not where you are. The other night as I was falling asleep I was thinking, "I wonder if I am the only pregnant woman that doesn't sleep with an excess amount of pillows. I never used extra pillows with Connor or this one. I hope sleep gets better for you!

  22. I'm 20 weeks along (second baby), and was definitely showing as much as you at 6 weeks this time around. Of course, you could also be further along. Either way, congrats!

  23. Wow, I'll be interested to see if you're further along than you originally thought!

  24. I bloated really bad with my subsequent babies. I'm sorry you aren't getting comfortable sleep already. I hope the morning sickness stays away for you. I had it really bad 3 out of 4 times so I consider anyone who doesn't have much of it very lucky :)

  25. I am really interested to see what the doctor says - I think you could be further along too... it makes sense if you think you took the tests too early!

I am so crazy happy for you :) Happy 2013!

  26. Your bump is SO cute!! Oh, and laser beams would shoot out of my eyes if anyone mentioned the "t" word while I was pregnant. I get it. ;)

  27. Well first of all you look great - 7 weeks or 17 weeks it doesn't matter - you are glowing! I am guessing you are further along than 7 weeks but if not than who cares! Just take care of yourself and enjoy. Hopefully it is just one very healthy baby in there. Happy New Year!

  29. When I was pregnant with my first, and my second, I showed show much, so early that I was afraid of twins. And everyone, EVERYONE, asked me how long until I was due. I actually had one lady, when I was barely 4 months, say 'you poor thing, you look like you're ready to pop'.

And then I went to jail for punching her in the face.

    Not really.

Around 25 weeks I seemed to look less huge and more normal. Sometimes our uterus just tilts a weird way, I think. Personally I think you look awesome. :)

  30. Not matter what week, you are looking great!

  31. twins don't run in our families either and I had 2 in there. I will say that I am 100% ok that we're only getting one.I can't imagine going from 2 boys to 4 boys. It would have been a blessing for sure but busy would be the understatement of the year :)I am also huge this time. I wasn't this big until both boys were born and I've already gained more weight. just enjoy it and ignore the comments.

  32. I'm 9 weeks with my second (though 4th pregnancy) and totally feel like I'm showing. Though it's hard for me to tell since even when not pregnant, I look it, since I carry all my weight in my belly anyway. I thought I felt movement the other day, but it's probably too early. Didn't feel movement with my first until about 21 weeks.

Oh and don't trust the chinese gender predictors! I checked a few different ones (from different websites ) and got different results!

  33. Thanks for this post. I'm 7 weeks, too, with baby #2. I look exactly like you did at this point! I wondered the same thing...twins??? Further along??? Your picture reassured me that everything is moving along like it should.
