After much consideration, and completely scratching our initial boy name, we've picked a name for Baby Brother, aka Baby Dew #2. And, his name will be...
{these colors give you a sneak peek into the nursery too}
If your familiar with the characters of Life After I "Dew" you know that my husband's name is Jimmy, aka James. He is named after his grandfather and we've decided to stick to tradition and follow suit.
Before we knew the gender of this baby we had talked about boy names and while James had come up a time or two it was never a front runner. For inquiring minds, our top two names were Jack or Nolan but I can honestly say neither of them ever felt "right". Once we saw the boy parts on the screen the name game became much more serious. Jimmy started feeling a sense of loyalty and I thought it'd be lovely to give him a family name, especially when the family name is one that I really like when I sat down and thought about it. My only stipulation is that he be called James. Jimmy's grandfather goes by Jim and obviously Jimmy goes by Jimmy and I refuse to be one of those "Big Jimmy, Little Jimmy" households. So James it is.
His middle name is still up in the air. Jimmy and his grandfather have different middle names and I kind of like that we can still personalize his name. We've talked about James Nolan, since Nolan was his name up until 2 weeks ago, but that doesn't roll of the tongue like I want it to. So we'll see...right now it just feels good to call him something other than Baby Brother.
Love it! Family names are so special. It's wonderful that he will always get to tell people he's named after his dad. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the name! So classic and masculine :) I think James Nolan is fantastic too. I can picture it on the top of a resume as he interviews for a high powered position. I don't think you should second guess yourself on that middle name. It's perfect. Have fun deciding!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE! I love when people use family names, they just seem so special! Big A is a third and I don't think he would continue the name, but he does want to use his middle name which was his Great Grandfather's name. It is hard having two people in the same house with the same name, but I think Jimmy and James are perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! This is one of our front-runners,too...still can't agree :) Sorry I never e-mailed you back, girl! This pregnancy was off to a really rough start and I'm finally (um, hello 26 weeks!) recovering. Sigh. The things we'll do for BABIES!!!
ReplyDeleteJames is my husbands middle name and I have always loved that name! I love that people are using family names instead of naming their kids really strange stuff.....like Pilot or Apple ;)
ReplyDeleteyou know, James is perfect name.
ReplyDeleteand Nolan thats somuch stuning boy name in Indonesia. Only a cool man or actor in Indonesia has somuch cool name for NOLAN :)
but It depends on you dear..and I pray the best for it
Xoxo,ILa
I love. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Cannot wait to kiss on him!
ReplyDeleteMy son's name is James. For the time being I'm also insisting that everyone calls him only that. I never really got the transition from James to Jim, lol. I figure he can call himself whatever he wants when he gets older but for now I'm not encouraging it. My sister does call him JT (middle name is Tilden) and I'm OK with that.
ReplyDeleteI love that name! classic but still cute :-)

I love it! Family names that are sentimental are the best :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pick! I like using family names as well. Kristian and I fought over our son's name because he wanted to name him Kristian but the problem is he goes by both his full name and Kris (depending on who he's talking to)and his father's name is also Kris so no matter which we used there would have been confusion and I also hate the whole Big and Little. So we compromised and used Kristian for the middle name to keep it going and picked a new first name. I like that you are calling him by the full name to have some distinction.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! James is such a strong name. I love it. :) Can't wait to hear the middle name when you choose it.
ReplyDeleteAwe James sounds like the perfect fit! I was wondering if you two were considering it. I think family names for boys are the best thing.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I bet Jimmy is happy he gets his Jr!
ReplyDeleteI love the name James! It is a family name in my family. When our son was born my husband wanted to name him Stephen III since my husband was a junior. My father in law goes by Steve, and my husband goes by Stephen and I just knew that our baby would be called "little Stephen", which I didn't want. I agreed to name him the third because it meant so much to my husband, but they both go by Stephen, no big and little!!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love that name, great choice Shannon!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! Our family is the same way! My husbands grandfather is James but called Jim and my husband is James but called Jimmy. :-) However, the tradition in our family is for the fathers first name be the child's middle name, so ours is Brennan James :-) (my husband middle name is Thomas like his fathers first name)Love the name James ♥
ReplyDeleteI love it!!!! What about a P name like Paul. Then you can have kp and JP! I totally thought it was going to be Declan after seeing your comment on Katie's ig.
ReplyDeleteAwww yay!! I LOVE IT! That's my hubs name and Trey's real name (Trey is just his nickname since he's the third)! So excited for you mama! And loving the colors for his nursery!!
ReplyDeleteI love James, its my boyfriends name, and you don't hear it a lot anymore, but its a good one. And he still goes by James, no nicknames!!
ReplyDelete:)
Aw hooray! Husb is James, but has always been called Jamie. He even uses "Jamie" professionally, too. He's named after his grandfather, who went by Jim.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great name!! That name was my father in laws name, my step dad and brothers middle name, and now our second sons middle name!!
ReplyDeleteI have a girlfriend that has the fam.y name of Daniel, her dad and her brother. They go by Dan and Danny, then of course she marries a Dan!! And, her and her brother uses the name James for their sons!! Crazy!
i love :) it's my daddy & brothers name too!! Such a good, classic name!
ReplyDeleteJames is a nice strong name!!

James! I love it. I was expecting Jack. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it! So excited to hear his middle name and to start seeing more nursery ideas!
ReplyDeleteI have a James, too :-) and I loved reading all your reader's comments about how they love the name. He is named after my wonderful grandfather, who will call and ask, "how's little Jimmy, doing?" We call him James, but my grandpa can call him whatever he likes. :-) I love your choice!
ReplyDeleteLove it! My friend has a James for her dad (and her as well since she's Jamie). I love the family name idea as well. Can't wait to hear what you decide as a middle name.
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect! Harry will be the 4th generation Harold. I am obsessed with family names! And I like James Nolan. I think it fits together nicely.
ReplyDeleteI love names with meaning and so I think this is a perfect choice for your sweet baby boy!!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic choice! James Nolan would sound really good. Classic and strong! New follower here.. check out my blog when you have a chance! :) runninglikeamother.com
ReplyDeleteJames is a solid name. It's my dad's and brothers name but my brother goes by Beau (came from Jimbo - a nickname given to him by our stepdad, and eventually just became "Bo" and just started spelling it differently).
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! We do family names for middle names! Traditions are wonderful....whether it's one passed down to you, or one you start anew.
ReplyDeleteLove the name! There is nothing better than a good, classic name. And especially when it's a family name!
ReplyDeletelove the name james! We named our son after my husband as well, and its so funny you have the same mentality as me. We call my husband matt, so I told him we could only name our son after him if we called him Matthew, I refuse to have two Matts in the house lol.
