ah-DORA-ble

Party preparations are finally underway. I think it's safe to say two things.  1. I love party-planning.  I loved doing it last year and I'm loving it this year just the same.  I think I should have been a party planner.  And 2. the Dora theme is getting me very excited. And I never thought I'd say that.  I think it's because I know how excited Kendall is going to be come party day!
I showed you Kendall's birthday attire and for the sake of not blowing up your Google Reader come August 6th, I thought I'd slowly ease you into this ah-DORA-ble fiesta. I mean I know I needed to be eased into the  idea so I'm sure you do too.
So far we have all the party decorations.  Since I'm not into themes, as I'm sure I've told you 586,945,386 times, I wanted to focus more on the colors of "Doe-rah".
Lots of pink, orange, yellow and purple.  I'm thinking I'll use those teenie weenie maracas to fill vases or something decorative.  Aren't they cute?  That banner is amazing and huge and will be perfect border for our sun-room.
Thanks to our good friends Little Laws Prints we got some ah-DORA-ble party goods.  These will really be the only Dora pieces {minus the millions of Dora presents I'm sure she'll get}.
She did such an excellent job.  I mean this turned out better than I ever expected and Kendall LOVES it.  She sees her invitation on the fridge and says, "oohhhhhh Doe-rah birfday!".  So yeah, come August 5th she's going to go bananas!
As for food and such, I think we're going to do a nacho bar. I think I might be more excited about that than anything.  Of course I turned to Pinterest for all things creative and found just what I was looking for.
Yum!  Her party is at 3 {I still wanted her to be able to take her nap} so I like that I can get away with not having a meal, per se.  Nacho bar is perfect because you can get as full as you want, make it a meal or just snack.  Plus, who doesn't love nachos?
As for Kendall's cake...I wanted to just give her a cupcake and be done with it but then Pinterest reared it's ugly head, made me feel like a failure for even thinking a cupcake would suffice.
I already have the giant cupcake pan and so I think I can pull this, or something like it, off.  Right?
And, I don't know about you, but I hate goodie bags full of junk.  Like $1 toys that the kids obviously love but break the minute you get in the car to go home.  No bueno.  So I like edible favors.  Thankfully Etsy let's people sell baked goods because these little beauties are on their way and I cannot explain how excited I am to see them in person.
I mean totes adorbs, right?  They're mini so I'm thinking 3-4 in a treat bag, adorned with one of LLP's ah-DORA-ble favor tags?  I die.
See why I'm getting so excited for this party!?
To be continued...

  15. Love this! Noah is turning two on Aug 7th and we are having his Firetruck party at 3 on Aug 4th. Kinda funny! I cannot wait to do his party blog but I want to wait until after the party so I don't spoil it before people get here. Love the nacho bar idea- we were undecided on 'snack food!' Everytime we say Birthday, Noah says "Party!! Cake!" I cannot wait!

  16. I need to get my butt moving on this Minnie Mouse party, huh?! I'm loving all the colors and the nachos bar! That's going to be awesome!! I'm for sure going to use our huge cupcake pan for Chloe's cake!! I just need to figure out how I want to decorate it. I'm NOT talented AT ALL, so I'm not sure it's going to be all that Minnie related. LOL!
