Thoughts for Thursday

I haven't done a random, here's what's on my mind post in a while so here you go.

***
So I'm annoyed.  I blame it on the case of S.A.D. that I swear I get every year.  I hate the cold.  I hate the snow.  I hate winter.  I thought I'd be all happy-go-lucky and enjoy it this year but that's not the case.  In fact, I think I'm more annoyed than ever.  You see, we heat our house {mainly} with a wood burning fireplace insert.  Sure it's awesome, saves us a ton of money on propane to heat the house and who doesn't love cozy-ing up to next to a roaring fire?  Me.  I am over it.  I'm tired of tramping outside in the subzero temperatures to bring more wood in.  I'm sick of all the dust that damn thing creates.  Seriously I cannot keep our house clean with this thing.  I hate that even though we have a humidifier our house is always dry.  I hate it all.  I hate winter, that will never change apparently.
***
Is blogging dying?  I swear if I read one more "I'm taking a break" or "I took a break and didn't care" post I might scream.  I mean, I get it.  We all have periods of writers block, it happens.  But so just take a break, blog when you feel like it, no pressure.  It's not that serious.  I feel like so many people get so caught up in "I have to post EVERY day" that they lose sight of why they started blogging in the first place.  Blog when/if you want and don't when you don't.  Easy peasy.  No need to be all dramatic about it.  I still happen to love blogging.  I love the friends I have made and pretty much the whole community.  Of course there are exceptions but, for the most part, blogging still rocks my socks.

***
Am I the only one with a toddler that refuses 3.5 seconds of independent play?  I mean seriously!  I will set out all of her toys thinking, "OK I can finally go unload the dishwasher in peace" and then 2 seconds later she's {literally} hanging on my leg.  What gives?  I know I should cherish this time that she wants to spend with me and soak it up because in about 12 years she won't want anything to do with me but HOLY COW, mama needs some space sometimes.

***
Can we talk about Private Practice for a minute?  Ummm...why did I not know it was ending, for good?  I was watching last weeks episode, business as usual and then BAM I see "on next weeks SERIES finale" and instantly started crying.  WTF?  I had NO IDEA it was ending, whatsoever.  I still haven't watched the finale because that makes it real and I am not ready for it to be over.

***
Speaking of TV.  I started Pretty Little Liars, which I told you yesterday and holy teenage goodness.  I have watched 11 episodes in the past 2.5 days and have no plans of slowing down.  First of all, Aria is adorable.  Love her.  She's gorgeous.  I want to be her when I die and come back as a teenager.  And Mr. Fitz, {whistles} woohoo.  My mom has been telling me for months that I need to jump on this teenie-bopper train but I never listened.  Sorry mom.

***
So our bedroom furniture is in!  Say what?!  We are finally going to have a master bedroom for grown ups to live in!  We still need curtains and some decoration stuff but the furniture alone is going to be a HUGE improvement.  I can't wait to reveal the before and afters.  You will DIE when you see what I'm working with.  It's pathetic, really.  You can guess what we'll be doing all weekend.

So yeah, that's where I'm at today.

  1. Big A wants to get a wood stove for our fireplace for next Winter? Should say no thanks? Now I'm nervous...

And PLL is one of my favs. Glad other people are watching it now too!

  2. So happy you joined the Pretty Little Liars world! I feel like I am 14 when I watch it but seriously I am hooked. I will watch reruns and all. And I secretly want to dress like Aria but feel like I would look totally ridiculous/age inappropriate picking up my child from school in some of those outfits! =)

Also, KP is definitely not the only toddler like that. Mine has been so clingy lately that I could scream. I cherish the time yes but seriously sometimes I would like to pee alone or unload the dishwasher without saying "Savannah Grace stop it now"!!!

  3. Now that Private Practice I was considering NOT getting into another show and when that PP would usually be on I would jump on the treadmill... Now I am thinking I need to try this Pretty Little Liars you are talking about, thanks!

I HATE the super cold winter. I can handle it when it is 40 and above but anything colder then that I want to move to Jamica and hibernate. We only have gas to heat our 100 year old house so winters we are almost always broke.

  4. I thought the same thing about Private Practice! I think it was cancelled, so they just whipped up a quick series finale to create closure. I'm not watching it yet... not ready. And I AGREE about blogging breaks. Just do it - live your life then blog about it later if you have time! Most of us won't stop following someone just because we haven't heard from them in a while.

  5. I can so feel your pain. When I was a kid we heated our home with a wood burning fireplace too. I use to split wood for extra spending money..I had the most freakishly strong arms in school...HA!! Why the heck my parents stored the wood in the back of the yard is beyond me...did I mention we had an acre yard?? :)

I would die is blogging is coming to an end...I have so fallen in love with it...but it would be so like me to start when it's coming to and end. Seriously I'm always like a day late to the party!!

  6. Private Practice announced they were ending when it came back on. Ha! The creator said they had basically done all they could with it. I don't understand why so many things are stopping in January though. Parenthood ended for the season this week. Hmm.

Blogging...I basically am deleting half my blogs. I am over the posts you talked about and the constant sponsor or advertising posts. I don't give a crap.

  7. I was so sad to watch the finale of Private Practice, but it wasn't sudden. They knew it'd be ending before this season even started. Kate Walsh decided enough was enough, as did Tim Daly and didn't even show this season. It was hard to watch, knowing it was over, but it was a really GREAT episode! All loose ends tied up in a neat little bow. Kudos to Shonda Rhimes!

I agree with the blogging 'I'm taking a break' posts! Who cares?! Take your break and move on...so the rest of us can continue to blog in pure bliss-ness. :)

And, Pretty Little Liars is AWESOME! My sister and I watched the first few episodes when it first aired, and we've been hooked ever since. Haha.

  9. I'm dying over all this cold winter crap too. I seriously hate it... where is Spring and where are my flip flops?!?!

Thanks for the reminder on blogging. I have definitely been guilty of feeling I need to post something every day... over the weekend I didn't blog and it felt awesome!!! I didn't make a big deal of it, just kinda unplugged for a few days and loved every second of it. My blog was still there waiting when I came back ;)

  10. Girl. Pretty Little Liars. I've been obsessed since it came on the air. I can't miss an episode. And why does it make me feel like I'm a teenager again, instead of an almost thirty bore?

  11. I am right there with you on te annoying "I am taking a break" posts. I am also over the forced, fake dialy posts just for the sake of having something up.

  12. I didn't watch the Friends season finale for like 5 years, maybe a little bit extreme but I was just so sad they were going away forever. So I get it!

I haven't started watching PLL but I did read all the books, can't wait to get started on it!

  13. I want to come back as Aria too. We almost named Charlotte Aria since I love the name so much! And mmmm, Mr. Fitz is SO yummy!

  14. Adelle has been super clingy lately too, hence the "toddler necklace." The next baby should make for built in entertainment, right???

  15. Hi!! I have never commented before (sorry for being a "creeper"), but wanted to chime in about my toddler also refusing to have anything to do with independent play!!
If one of us leaves a room (even announcing where we are going/why/how long we'll be gone), you can count silently as you walk away and certainly before you get to 5, he will be out that door and next to you again. My toddler is nearly 2 years and 4 months old, just for reference.
There were a few awesome days when I was home alone with him and I would take a shower, leave the bathroom door open and just let him play and do whatever (his room is next to the bathroom) and he would actually play by himself during my shower! It got so fun that I would try to prolong the shower and just stand there in the water. But, literally, the second I got out of the shower, I would hear "heeeeeaaaalp me, mama" or see his little face right there. This phase didn't last long, though, because the universe heard me tell a friend that my kid was playing alone during shower time and the universe said hell no to that. Last 2 times I took a shower he was in there with me and complaining that I wasn't playing with him. Sigh.
I totally feel the same way as you about it - I feel like I should enjoy it while it lasts, but it's hard....

  16. I am sooooooooooo with you on the Private Practie series finale! I had NO IDEA and when I went to get my DVR this week and saw that it was ending, I couldn't believe it. I was and still am in shock.

  17. I didn't know your furniture came! Haaaaaay!

And I agree - Aria is so pretty. And Fitz? DROOL.

  18. I feel like winter came so late this year for us that we are all super pissy about the recent snow and sub-zero temps. I know I'm super pissy about it. LOL.

  19. Lost a long comment! Son of a bitch! Do you rotate Kp's toys? I've also found Chase will play if I try to pick up his toys. Move to my neighborhood! No snow!

  20. Winter is killing me too. What cruel twist of fate landed me in Michigan? Ugh. I feel like I must be transregional - I was meant to be living in a warm climate. Yet, here I am.

  21. Regarding Pretty Little Liars: first episode, wasn't a fan. 2nd episode, INSTANT OBSESSION. Despite the fact that it makes me feel horrible for not being as pretty and fashionable at age 16, I still can't get enough.

  22. 1. I also hate winter. Every year.
    2. My 8 month old does what you described KP doing...I'll set him down with toys and then he starts crawling after me immediately. Slow down!
    3. I can't wait to see before and after pics of your adult bedroom! We did ours in phases (furniture first, paint later) and I LOVE it now!

  23. HATE the whole taking a break thing!! Its almost as bad as when people "threaten" to delete their Facebook..which is why I'm glad I don't have it anymore. I think toddlers go through stages..or at least I tell myself that. Carsyn is in her not wanting to go to bed stage and is up til midnight a lot. I think its God's way of evening out the fact Hank sleeps like a rock. Hope you are feeling well!!

  24. Not related to this post specifically.. I just wanted to let you know I shared your blog over at this site. http://www.thirtyhandmadedays.com/2013/01/favorite_blogs_link_up/#comments
Just in case you start getting some random reads from over there :-)

  25. I also HATE winter. Not fun.

And the independent play? Umm yea. E has NO time for that ish. Because then she would have to climb out of my pocket and that is so not happening. At least three times a day I decide to have another kid just so she'll have someone else to play with. I should get on that.

  26. Oh no, so sad that Private Practice is ending :( We have just started a season in South Africa (the one where Pete has just died!) - is this the finale? I absolutely love Pretty Little Liars - what a teen thriller at the same time? I also love Aria!!
    Happy watching girl x

  27. I agree, the dramatic blogging break posts are getting quite old now. I may have done one in my past but now I tend to not put too much thought into it. If I blog, I blog. No big deal.

  28. I was totally blindsided with Private Practices Finale. I watched it, and at the end I was like "this really seems like the end... not just the end of a season. Where can they go from here?" Your post just answered tha question, No where I guess. It was a good show, never as good as Grey's though, so as long as I don't lose that I'm ok. :)

  29. I didn't know private practice was ending either until about a week ago when I saw an article with Kate Walsh. Sad!

  30. I'm glad someone said it. I actually stopped blogging awhile back, but I never did the whole "Goodbye World!" Dramatic post. I mean seriously, no one cares! The second worst is the people who "take an indefinite break" and then check in like every couple weeks lamenting on why they took the break and if they'll ever come back. Umm you're blogging, so you didn't take a break! Ugh. Such a pet peeve. The funny thing is, I read maybe ten blogs and about 3/4 of them have all done it..

  31. Once you are cought up on PLL you need to watch the Lying Game, also ABC Family teen show that i can't get enough of!
