April Goals

I've seen a lot of other bloggers share their monthly goals and while I'm not quite Type A enough for all that I do think it's important to set goals.  I like the idea of setting smaller goals rather than focusing on one, big, overwhelming goal.  Baby steps, progress not perfection, it's about the journey, not the destination, and all those other cliche sayings, right?

Anywho...I keep mentioning this feeling I have, wanting/craving/needing more.  Maybe this is a way for me to sort out those feelings and hopefully narrow down and figure out what that means, exactly.  Maybe?  So let's see what I can accomplish in April, shall we?

  • Finish T25 . I finished alpha last Friday and it felt so good.  I stuck to the entire schedule and only had to make up a few days along the way {Saturdays and Sundays are rest days so if I missed one through the week I just made it up then}.  I am feeling so good about my progress this time.  Today starts beta round and I can't wait to get started.
  • Log all food in MyFitnessPal.  I go through periods where I love MFP and then other times where I just stop logging altogether.  Truth be told I need it in my life if for no other reason than accountability.  Just when I think I have a grasp on this whole portion control/eating thing I don't.
  • Take a trip with my girlfriends.  It's been three years since me and my besties took a weekend to ourselves and this month we will finally get another, much needed trip.
  • Save.  I want to be able to fund my girls trip and our upcoming night away/Dave Matthews concert trip all by myself.  I'm talking gas, room and board, food, you name it I don't want Jimmy to pay a dime.
  • Read my devotional daily.  I go through weeks where I'm reading it daily and then I forget about it for days/weeks at a time.  I really want to make a better effort to read it every day this month.  Each one is short and sweet and hits a big message so there's no reason to skip it.
  • Wash my face nightly.  I'm awful with my skincare and very, very rarely wash my face at night.  I sleep in my makeup all the time and yes, I know, it's awful.  I want to be someone who looks good without or with very minimal makeup and the only way that is going to happen is if I keep up with a routine.
  • Create a cleaning schedule.  Call me crazy but a clean house makes me happy.  For the most part our house is in order, depending on the day, but I'd love to get on a schedule so I don't feel like I'm doing all the things, all the time.  I've seen some floating around out there but I need to find one that best fits me.
  • Fill up at least four trash bags of things to donate/throw away.  Last Friday I went through the playroom and filled two grocery shopping bags full and it felt so good to get rid of things that were broken/missing pieces/junk. I can't wait to do the same with our closets, pantry and storage areas too.
  • Pack Jimmy's lunch.  This is his love language.  He loves it when I say, "oh hey I packed your lunch today" {and so does our bank account}.  It's a simple thing I can do to show I care and love him and I don't do it nearly enough.
  • Be more intentional with my time.  This goes for my time spent with my kids, my husband, myself.  I have always said, "I suck at time management" and then realized I am the only one who can change that.  It's no one's fault but my own that I feel overwhelmed at times and feel as though I am constantly doing something.  That, hopefully, changes this month.
OK I think that's a good start.  Like I said, I am so not Type A so this whole "planning" thing is foreign to me but I think this is going to help tremendously.  Hopefully.

  1. These are all great. I too need to be more intentional with my time. I always feel like I don't have enough, but then I spend half a Sunday with Netflix, so like you said I'm the only person who can change that. Also if you find a good cleaning schedule...let me know.

  2. So I do monthly goals because sometimes I feel as if I'm a horrible cycle of the same ol same ol so it's nice to give myself a goal or two (it's actually 18!) to focus on. It gives me a little push when I'm feeling extra lazy.
