Firm Friday, It's Different

So yesterday I was going back through some of my posts in my "weight loss" label, you know for good measure.  Actually it's because me and Kristen were talking about getting our pre-baby abs back and what we need to do to get them there.  We used to be hot lil numbers back in the day and we took that for granted, big time.
You see when I was in full on wedding mode I was also in full weight loss mode.  I remember struggling to lose 2 lbs, not realizing that although the scale wasn't moving my body was changing.  I had only managed to drop 10-12 lbs before our wedding but DAMN Gina, that body was tight, firm, toned, and I didn't even appreciate it.  It wasn't until I was 100 months pregnant that I realized what a body I had.
Now when people see me they're all, "OMG you are TINY".  My mom even threatened an intervention, stating I was "getting too thin".  Part of what they say is true, a TINY part, I am "skinnier" now than I was pre-baby, but it's diferent.  Sure the scale says what I would have loved it to say 3 years ago but the body isn't what it used to be.  For example, the lowest weight I ever reached pre-baby was 142 and I looked like this.

And now today I fluctuate but usually am around 137, comfortably.
SEE the difference?  So just goes to show you that the number on the scale means NOTHING girls, nothing.
So while I'm at a weight I haven't seen in a long time, it's different.  I would KILL to be 142 and have that definition back.  See after you have a baby things...change.  They shift, they stretch, they sag, it's not a pretty sight.  And getting back into shape post body?  Totally different too.  Back in the day I could just do some crunches and the elliptical for 30 minutes and see results, no diet necessary.  Today it's a little more tricky and a strict 1200 calorie diet is key, for me.  But, I can do it.  Last  year was all about losing the weight and I did it so I know I can do this too.  Goal weight AND toned?  Yep, that will be me.
So, to all you girls out there with no babies, enjoy, cherish, LOVE the body you have now! If you got it, flaunt it because I can promise you it's all hard work and dedication afterward.

  6. i hear you girl. last summer i was in asia visiting my relatives (showing off jayden), one of my husband's aunts told me this "you gained 35lbs during your pregnancy?? no wonder, you look fat, you were so skinny before". i was pissed but i didnt say anything. in my mind i thought i weigh exactly the same pre-baby how could i look fat?! last night all of a sudden i got her point, i may weigh the same, but my muscles are gone. but watch, i'm in the process of toning up, you will see those killing abs again in no time.

  7. Your boobs post-Kendall look amazeballs. Yes. I checked that out, too.

But I know how that number goes...I'm blessed with even fat distribution, so I have curves, but people don't know how much those curves weigh.

  9. I could have written this post. Things just aren't the same! I'm with you - goal weight, I'm pretty much there. Now the toning begins. Might I recommend P90x's Ab Ripper X? It takes about 15 minutes and you see RESULTS. I've also heard good things about 6-week 6-pack (Jillian). But that's 30 solid minutes of AB TORTURE. I'm with you this year on getting toned!!

  11. GREAT post. and SO true. your body will never be the same again. I'm trying to just appreciate the changes i see happening on my body (and the postive thoughts i have for myself again), instead of only focusing on the number on the scale. some days, that is easier said than done!

  17. I blogged about this on Monday--post baby working out has added pounds "back there!" So it is so hard to figure out how size and weight work together...and then trying to figure out how to dress the new shape. I'm with you and want to keep a healthy lifestyle and get toned!

I am SUCH a bad dieter. I cheat all the time and the only person I am cheating is myself!

  22. Ok so I think you look amazeballs in both. I hate numbers. they never tell the story. i weigh less now than i did before baby but it's all shaky and shit now and i hate it. i'll weigh more if i don't jiggle when i walk!

  24. you look SO GOOD!

but the ab thing is true. I went to PT for my knee 2 weeks ago and the guy felt my abs and said he'd expect "more" (strength?? definition?). I was like "I had a baby!" and he was like "a year ago!!!" lol
I weigh the same or less than I did when I got preg, but yeah, it's time to tone.
