The Haps...

Hello.  Is this thing on?

Oh hi!  I'm Shannon and I used to blog here.  I'm still alive and very well.  I wish I could say I was making blogging a priority these days but truth be told, as evident by my lack of blog posts, I'm not.  I feel like the days get ahead of me and when I get a free moment I just want to plop down on the couch and catch up on Housewives.  But I'm going to try to be better so here's the haps.

I'm still doing and loving T25 six days a week.  I am an at home workout DVD junkie and of all the ones I've tried this one kicks my butt.  Jillian has nothing on Shaun T. I have had a few people ask about it and so I'll share the info with the masses.  It's a 10 disc/DVD program.  It's broken up into two phases, alpha and beta.  Each phase lasts 5 weeks.  In each phase there are 6 different workouts and you rotate through those workouts each week, doing a different one every day.  It's awesome because your mind never gets bored and your body never gets used to the same workout, preventing plateaus. It's intense, not like Insanity or P90X, but it's do-able.  Jimmy started doing it a week after me {so he's on a different schedule} and he's loving it as well.  Some days I'll do my workout, according to my schedule, and then do his with him at night.  Talk about a calorie burn.  On average I burn about 350 calories per 25 minute workout.  Not bad, right?  I'm already seeing amazing result {3 weeks in} and you'll get to see a peek into my progress when I post my 30 day/300 ab challenge pics on the 31st.

Jimmy and I want to take a husband/wife only trip this year.  Our 5 year anniversary is in October so let's just say it's an anniversary trip even though it'll most likely happen this summer.  We haven't been on a trip, just the two of us, since our honeymoon and we are really craving some kid-free time.  We want to go somewhere relatively close, no flying, and so we have been looking into a few places here in Ohio.  Problem is?  I want to go now.  Problem #2?  It's too cold, still, to go anywhere of interest to me.  So we wait.

Kendall is on spring break this week and, ironically, the weather is going to be anything but springlike all week.  So any plans of going to the park, or even playing outside in our yard, are out the window.  Some spring break.  I'm hoping to get all Pinerest-mom and come up with some fun things to do but with James being so little we are limited.  I asked Kendall what she wanted to do, her answer?  "Go to Target!".  That's my girl!

I found a new website for recipes, Skinny Mom.  I have tried just about every recipe on Kraft and Skinny Taste and I love trying new things, we rarely eat the same dinner twice.  So when I found Skinny Mom I was in love!  Tons of delicious recipes and all that I've made have been easy too.  You can search by gluten free, clean eating, Paleo, you name it.  And they have an app!  Bonus!  I have yet to explore other areas of this site {fitness, health, lifestyle} but I'm sure they're bomb.com too.

I have to tell you about the most amazing, will make you feel like a skinny mini, shorts I found last week.   If you follow me on IG you already know about these babies but for the rest of you, you need to know too.  Old Navy's boyfriend shorts are it.  I ordered a pair to be my goal shorts this summer {meaning I ordered them in what size I hope to be this summer} and to my surprise they fit when I got them, SAY WHAT?!  So there went that idea.  So this weekend I exchanged them {and got another pair} for an even smaller size and that size I can get on and zip and button even.  I mean, I wouldn't wear them in public fitting the way they do now but still!  So run, don't walk, to your nearest Old Navy and make yourself feel skinny getting a size {or two} smaller!

My IG is full of brand new babies.  No, seriously.  Off the top of my head I can think of at least 4 babies that have been born in the past week.  Y'all I just had my baby!  Right?  I mean wasn't he just born yesterday?  Seeing all these brand new squishy babies makes me realize how big he's getting so quickly and it's making my heart sad.  He's sitting up now, becoming very vocal, he's been pulling his knees up {OMG!} and really starting to develop quite the personality.  I cannot believe he is already seven months old and that we're closer to planning a first birthday each day.  It's true what they say about 2nd babies.   And before you go saying, "it's time for another!" just remember, be kind or be quiet.

A few people on IG have asked me to share my food diary.  I will, promise.  That is a post all on it's own and I need lots of time to dedicate to sharing that.  I'm hoping that sometime this week I will have all of that info up.  I wrote a post about what I ate to lose weight after Kendall was born so in the meantime you could check that out, here.  Now a lot has changed for me in that time, I was eating lots of packaged stuff then, but maybe it'll help give you some ideas until I come back with a more updated list for you.

  1. I've been wondering where you've been! I've also been wondering what T25 was like so I'm glad you elaborated on that a little bit. I'm thinking after a go-around with Jillian I'll have to try it.

  2. phew- I was wondering where you ran off to. I am glad all is well. I have been looking into workout dvd's... I like how T25 sounds. I know just going for walks isn't going to cut it much longer.

  3. Glad to hear you are doing well! I need new shorts because my surgery had me gain a little bit of weight and I need new shorts... these ON ones sound perfect. LOL :)

  4. Definitely getting those shorts! haha =) And, I would rather read posts that you actually want to write and find time too then just post after post of blah! Its about quality not quantity!

  6. I started doing T@5 today... I also learned how out of shape I really am! Geez!!!

    My IG feed is full of cute new babies too. I swear everyone I know either just had a baby or is about to have one. Crazy! My baby is now almost six months old =( Excuse me while I go cry....
